Are you talking about the blue belay device on a BD gridlock locker, between the ATC guide and grigri? If so that is a first generation Petzl Reverso belay device. It was one of the first widely accepted plaquette style belay devices and worked well. The issue is that the metal plate it was stamped

The more force claim is usually based on Petzl's Reverso vs Grigri measurements, and the difference is big for high factor falls. But anybody who's seriously contemplating routes where a FF 1 onto a micro is a real possibility doesn't need reddit to tell them how to belay.

ATC Alpine Guide vs Nano Jul
I use the petzl reverso and have found it plenty grippy on anything down to the beal gully 7.3. Fresh out of the box it's so grippy actually, that I reverse it when rappelling with 7.5 half routes and fatter. Above 9.2 it actually becomes a pain in the ass to use lol.

New to trad and multipitch - problem / question about tube style device
With extensive experience on multi pitches, the Petzl Reverso is both lightweight and reliable. It has teeth for catching your 2nd, you won’t struggle to hold them if they take.
