Grigri purchase
I mean…. They changed the geometry a bit and the new ones have a wider and slightly different range of ropes they are designed to accept. I seem to recall the old ones being grippier but it might just be that we all had thicker ropes back then. I see zero reason to think the grigri 1 is not perfectl

Grigri leash
There's nothing wrong with the mod that uses a drill, there's a few reasons mentioned (along with the instructions), here. Things like "the bit you drill into isn't structural" and "petzl put the only end user friendly Philips head screw you'll ever see in recreational climbing gear in the Grigri 1,

Weekly Question Thread (aka Friday New Climber Thread). ALL QUESTIONS GO HERE
Close enough for me. My partner uses and SmD with their neox (and gg before) and doesnt really have issues with crossloading. This is petzls recommendation for a reason. Keep it simple. Plus you can toss a tether in the hole if that floats your boat. It's also worth noting that the forces you're goi

The SM’D works, but keeps the device a bit closer to your body which can cause clothes to get tangled. The AM’d was designed with the grigri in mind. They s

Carabiners

Rule of thumb two: for belay devices go with double or triple action gates over screw locks. The smaller the b

What’s everyone’s favorite anticross loading carabiner?
All of the anti cross loading carabiners are fucking huge. I use the smallest D carabiner that is not anti cross loading for belaying with a grigri. Once you get good at belaying you really don’t need an anti cross loading carabiner. And who downvoted this? They are fucking huge. A DMM Ceros is 121
