Problems with the S1II

The AF part- 100% my experience (with s5ii at least, the s1ii should be only tad better). The “wide zone +tap to track which actually works and doesnt loose subject” mode on sony is ideal for run&gun/ events and panasonic just makes you concentrate on checking if the focus didnt drifted off instead

Problems with the S1II

I have most Panasonic cameras but also the A7CII and the Z6III. I agree with you about the video processing in H265/H264/Prores. Since the S5II the video engine is pretty bad. The A7CII is just much better. What you said about the people skin is true, when cropping inside the videos, it has smoothed

Sold the Lumix S1R II for the S5 II - verdict 6 months later

My understanding, and it could be incorrect as Panasonic is so secretive about these details, is that the thermal sensor of the image sensor was too sensitive and proactively ended recording well before any concern to the sensor. Panasonic LUMIX had to experiment with determining what that correct l

Anyone else finding the S1II can give some weird colours at times?

I own or owned lot of Panasonic full frame and m43 cameras. To my eyes, the S1II has the worse colors, by example a lot of time when I look at my footage, I think the greens look off and it is not only because of the white balance. The S5II had nicer colors on my opinion, the first firmware of this c

Lumix still an underdog?

Autofocus has improved considerably but Lumix is still behind major brands. The inability to set custom brackets is baffling, especially if you shoot real estate. In order to get +-3 stops you have to shoot 7 pictures which is extremely annoying. The TTL flash performance is slightly sluggish compar

Does the s1ii have any static when recording audio?

Ok so the comments so far don't seem to be familiar with this issue at all. It is very real within the S5ii and I had it on both of mine. I even got Panasonic to confirm that they were aware of the issue, sent it in for warranty repair, and that accomplished pretty much nothing. It was not an issue

Why does the S5ii(x) has NO mode for 60fps with Phase Af but the S9 has it?

why We can only guess. They have the same sensor and image processor. The S9 came out later and maybe Panasonic didn't figure out how to do it until after the S5ii was released. Panasonic used to be very good about adding firmware improvements from newer cameras to slightly older cameras.

I'm considering getting an FX30

So I don't have any Sony glass. I am looking to spend around $2000 for the body. I am considering the FX30 because it can do True 24 DCI. I did consider the Panasonic S5ii but the lack of True 24 DCI is keeping me from going into Panasonic. Is there a Nikon in the $2000 range that you recommend?
