Do I Need the New 2026 Patagonia Refugio 30L?
I had a look at the old and the new side-by-side yesterday and prefer the old. The shop models were stuffed with pillows, so I got a decent sense of how they would look when filled, but of course not how they would carry with a proper full load. . The new version has the laptop section in the back w

Daypack or Best way to have 2 bags?
I use an Osprey Daylite 20L (NOT the Daylite 26 + 6) as my day pack. When empty it just packs almost completely flat in my larger one bag. I put it in last on the top. I have even attached it on the outside using an S biner when pressed for internal space, holding it in place with the compression wi

Does this bag even exist??
I have the osprey sojourn porter 30 and it hits all these marks except it has a laptop sleeve and it's not technically expandable, however it uses compression straps so it really is all about how full you pack it

45L Suggestions?
My partner has carried the Osprey Sojourn Porter 46 on 7 long trips now (6-9 weeks) and loves it. The slightly rigid side panels make it easy to pack and the compression straps mean you can cinch it down really nicely if it's not full. It is lasting really well. The only slight downside is that if i

Allpa 35 for a 3 week trip?
Pack for a week a laundry happens. Note the dimensions are 22 x 12 x 10" (56 x 30 x 25cm) which is too deep for the majority of airlines. You might as well have a 40 liter. The Osprey Farpoint is 22”x14”x9” and the Sojourn Porter 46 is supposedly 21.5” X 14” X 9” and those bags have the compression

Advice for someone interested in going onebag for extreme climates
Onebagging isn’t a universal solution. It is a minimalist urban technique. I could handle low temps to 0f/-18c with a onebag kit, but lower than that is quite a challenge. Don’t buy a Peak Design bag. They are notorious for uncomfortable harness. I would look for a bag with a load transferring harne

New edc/long weekend bag - recs?
Not my daily, but I grabbed an Osprey sojourner porter 46 for weekend trips and overnights. The quality seems good for the weight and the features / functionality is very good. It's got a cushy compression feature that keeps your load secure. Not as many pockets as the MW though.

Packing advice
I would go with the 32 liter version for better overhead compliance. The Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler 40 is even better. For a duffel like bag with a better backpack harness, consider the Osprey Sojourn Porter 46 or a used Porter 46. It carries far better than the convertible duffels.

Senior couple, narrow definition pack?
My partner 75M 5'6" and I 61F 4'10" have an Osprey and a Mystery Ranch. His Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L is a mustard tan colour and my Mystery Ranch 22L is torquoise. We both find that load lifter straps and hip belts make all the different for our old bones. His Porter has side panels that squash it

Having Trouble Choosint a 40L Pack!
Going off this comment about looking at 30L, I too, thought I wanted a 40L pack as a bare minimum, but I never found a pack that size that was comfortable for me. I ended up with the Osprey Sojourn Porter 30L and have absolutely loved it. It had a padded hip belt, a chest strap, and load lifters for
