Struggling to Choose the Right Backpack for Travel + Overnight Hiking
I think you're asking too much here. Although one of my friends uses a Kelty Redwing (36?) this way. He says it's tough to get all his multi day stuff secured though. I actually don't own a travel backpack per se. You see the Farpoint 40 recommended a lot. Despite that, it has a just-ok harness (but

Osprey Talon 22L or Osprey Escapist 25L ???
I tried on an Escapist the other day. It fits weird. Honestly I don't think 3-4 L here and there is enough to really distinguish backpacks. At that point, choose on features. I have an Osprey Stratos 34 I love but haven't tried skiing in. I'm not sure if the frame might be too much. I have an Osprey

Needing travel backpack advice
It probably won't. It's almost 30" long and the baggage sizer is 22" long. Travel backpacks come in right around 40 L because they're designed around a 22x14x9 luggage size. If 8" of the Rook's length is the brain (seems like a lot to me) you might be able to get away with it if you don't pack it fu

How many bags do you have and what do you use them for?
Probably about a dozen. Mostly different outdoor sports bags. I use them for outdoor sports. π I actually don't own a purpose-built travel bag. I frequently want to do some outdoors sport or another when I'm traveling and want that bag. Between my Osprey Soelden 42 and my Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault

Onebag + multi-day hiking (Patagonia / Salkantay): 35β40L hiking pack that still works as carry-on?
Sort of? TBH, I didn't try. I did the Kumano Kodo trail in Japan, staying in inns, so a similar hut-to-hut trip in that sense. But I also brought a really big roller with clothes for before and after and that I used to shuttle home some souvenirs. Anyway, I bought my Osprey Stratos 34 for that trip.

The North Face Borealis Trail Backpack
How much climbing gear are we talking? I wrote a bunch more but it's pretty TL;DR. I think if you're only carrying personal gear, like a bum, it'll be fine. If you're also carrying quick draws and/or the rope, and you're not an ultralight masochist, it'll be way too small and also not stiff enough.

backpack recs?
Oh, good luck. The rope especially is a pretty big driver of needing a bigger, more technical pack. You could see if Dakine makes something you can use. Look at the ski touring packs: these often have accommodation for a rope and Dakine likes to make packs that do double duty. What else... Black Dia

I need cragpack recommendations please :)
I've been using an Osprey Soelden 42. It's just ok. It's really for ski touring. It does have rope and helmet carry but to some degree those are only important because it's kinda small. The hydration situation is a bit funky too. Climbing loads can be pretty heavy between all the carabiners and the

Whatβs the best travel backpack youβve actually used and loved?
I haven't. π Usually I want a backpack that's good at being a backpack during the day. I think my favorite if I'm going for a weekend with my kid is my Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack. (27 L). Max. carryon and/or skiing, my Osprey Soelden 42. Since I already have the Soelden and it does a decent jo

What gets combos do people recommend like a main bag and a sling bag or anything else?
I have a packable messenger and... I don't use it. It kind of sucks. Also, I found I don't pack it. So it's just a really floppy messenger. I have an old Timbuk2 Stork messenger I use instead. It's pretty comparable to the Commute and Closer or somewhere between the Classic Small and Medium. Actuall
