Is a Osprey Farpoint 40L + Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC suitable for 4 weeks in Japan/Indonesia?
Try getting your packing list for just the hike into your Sirrus now. Does it fit? If so, don't read the rest of this comment. π I don't think you want a Farpoint 40. And, I don't think you want to take your Sirrus with you. I think you want a large hiking pack you can carry on. This is a bit tricky

Is 35L too big? New bag design
Access. You either have to dick around with them a lot to get things in and out or leave them unrolled and sloppy which to me kinda defeats the purpose of having the rolltop in the first place - why not just go top loader if I'm not going to roll it? Especially with larger packs that can have a brai

How many bags do you have and what do you use them for?
Probably about a dozen. Mostly different outdoor sports bags. I use them for outdoor sports. π I actually don't own a purpose-built travel bag. I frequently want to do some outdoors sport or another when I'm traveling and want that bag. Between my Osprey Soelden 42 and my Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault

Onebag + multi-day hiking (Patagonia / Salkantay): 35β40L hiking pack that still works as carry-on?
Sort of? TBH, I didn't try. I did the Kumano Kodo trail in Japan, staying in inns, so a similar hut-to-hut trip in that sense. But I also brought a really big roller with clothes for before and after and that I used to shuttle home some souvenirs. Anyway, I bought my Osprey Stratos 34 for that trip.

Whatβs the best travel backpack youβve actually used and loved?
I haven't. π Usually I want a backpack that's good at being a backpack during the day. I think my favorite if I'm going for a weekend with my kid is my Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack. (27 L). Max. carryon and/or skiing, my Osprey Soelden 42. Since I already have the Soelden and it does a decent jo

Hiking bags are more suitable for travelling than cabin backpack ?
I was going to disagree with you until you said you were only taking a 32 L bag. Except I see some comments it's 26" tall?? I'm not that serious about one bagging, but I really like to travel carryon-only. All my backpacks are at least ok as carryon. I think my Osprey Soelden 42 and my Mystery Ranch

Backpack suggestion
r/onebag has a monster spreadsheet with different options. The Osprey Farpoint 40 is purpose-built for this kind of thing and quite popular. I don't have one. I use my Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack this way sometimes and would recommend it if 27 L is enough for you. I use it for weekends but have

6-Month Asia Trip - looking for new bag and packing recommendations
I love my Stratos 34! I've used it for travel a little bit and agree it's not great for that. I found it pretty frustrating to get a better work/travel pack recently, since I really wanted it to have good support. And I wasn't even trying for the suspended mesh backpanel. I'm usually an Osprey fan b

Looking for a good carry on hiking and travel backpack at least 40L
TL;DR: get a hiking pack you like with a frame length under 22". I'm really curious about the older-model Mystery Ranch Coulee 40 for this. I believe its frame length came in just under 22" but the new one is longer. My experience of traveling with a backpack is that you really need to keep an eye o

Need help choosing a travel bag overwhelmed by options
I kinda want one but haven't been able to justify it to myself. Right now I have two backpacks I sometimes use as suitcase replacements. My Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack is great if I'm not planning to do any sports. The tri-zip access is amazing for being able to really open the bag for loading
