Size reccomendation for a day bag?

I love my 22L Osprey Mira for long day hikes. Perfect size for what I bring. Good features and carries weight well. I also have a 12L Osprey Silva that works well in shorter hikes where I'm not carrying as much. So for the distances you are looking to cover, something in the 20s should be fine.

Looking for a new backpack

I literally just bought the Osprey Mira 24 and took it on a hike yesterday and it’s so great! I only buy packs with air gap backs because I sweat a ton and it helps reduce chafe, but I had 3.5L of water in it (it comes with a 2.5L bladder), a few layers, snacks, and barely noticed it.

Backpacks with back air gap?

Thank you for adding so much detail! It looks like the Mira is the women’s version of the Manta; it was my original plan, but it felt crazy how much bigger the 24 felt (visually, looking online) from the Mira 18 I currently have! But I agree with you too—the Mira 18 is also a ‘biking backpack’ like

New Osprey Packs for 2026 at REI

A few updates and changes that I noticed on REI for the Manta series (as I currently have one): Some of the bag dimensions have changed, the Manta/Mira are a few inches shorter but more depth if I remember correctly. I think the weight is similar enough. On the Manta/Mira series the top pocket has b

Best Small Day Packs?

I'd really recommend the osprey just because they do great packs, we use slightly larger Mira (female) and manta (male) packs think they're about 34L. The osprey packs are really well designed, lightweight and comfortable. Only issue is sometimes the zips get a bit sticky. Buy one 2nd hand on market

Seeking Training Advice - Headaches from Dehydration?

I would suggest a backpack with a water bladder. I stayed noticeably more hydrated than with a water bottle and getting headaches and tired. I started using the water bladder and tube attached via a magnet near my mouth. I was consistently taking small sips and felt much better. Don’t know if you ha
