Anyone travel with a carry on?
10 years on the road with my wife, living out of two Osprey Farpoint 40L carry-ons. One each. This year, after a decade of wear and tear, we replaced them, with the exact same backpacks. That probably says everything. Traveling this way teaches you a simple rule: if something new comes in, something

One bag for diverse temperatures
Packing list first, then the bag. The Osprey Farpoint 40 is the safe answer. The bag needs to fit you, fit your gear and fit on the plane. Here’s my 4 season kit. Note the layering possible. It will all fit in a 32 liter overhead sized backpack. Pack for a week and laundry happens. Hand wash basics

Backpacking for almost 3 months
You can’t carry on anything larger than 40-45 liters and even then it needs to have the right proportions. I don’t need a bag that big. I just did two weeks with a 32 liter overhead bag and a 6.5 liter personal item. I can actually pull it off with a 25 liter for warm destinations. Something like an

Osprey Farpoint 40L VS Salkan 35L
I have the Osprey 40L Farpoint and I love it. I don't like to check a bag ever so I use it to travel and to hike. It's been my main bag for multiple long hut treks in Nepal, Peru, Iceland, Patagonia and for Kilimanjaro. It's a solid bag. Sometimes I pair it with an Osprey 15L bag if I need some more

Onebaggers of Reddit: what's the toughest part of traveling with just one bag?
Wait, are you traveling with a carryon or just a tiny personal item bag?Doing laundry every night or even worrying about nearest laundromat when traveling random countries sounds super stressful. My 1 bag carry-on fits 1 week's worth of clothing easily. Checkout the Osprey Farpoint 40 it's max carry

Carry on, check it or buy another
You’ll likely be fine on Delta, but watch your weight once you start flying other carriers because some international and low budget airlines actually weigh people’s carryon suitcases and if it’s overweight you will be checking it. *hasn’t happened to me bc I exclusively use an Osprey Farpoint 40 as

Backpack in overhead
An Osprey Farpoint 40 is a great backpack that converts into a duffle. It is marginally too big for under the seat (it can totally fit, I never fully pack it). I have yet to have issue with being told to move it.

Considering a Farpoint Trek 55L for my nephew’s graduation
Will suggest looking at the Farpoint 40L or the dual-bag 55L version (40L main + 15L attachable daypack). The 40L is carry-on compliant for many (most?) US airlines, while the 15L makes for a decent (small) day bag. A better bet might be to pair the Farpoint 40L with another bag such as the Osprey 2

2 weeks in Europe with the Sojourner 46L, for a lazy onebagger who likes to pack a lot of stuff
46L is too big. Too big for carry-on. You might get away with it, but don’t count on it. And you carried way too much stuff! The problem with every pack is that no matter the size it will ALWAYS be full. The Osprey Farpoint 40 seems to be the best all-around one-bag pack.My wife and I have been usin

What is your 1.5-bag setup?
Same. Farpoint 40 and a Farpoint 15L Daypack. (Osprey Dry Stuff pack, packed inside its own pocket, just in case. ) Goes everywhere, holds everything, easy to carry, and never a problem on any carrier.
