Osprey vs Aer

AER is a lifestyle backpack. Urban, trendy etc. some nice looking materials and aesthetically pleasing organisation. Osprey is a utilitarian bag you buy for a purpose, that’s not the prettiest or feel the nicest but it will be a comfortable backpack for a decade if you want. If you honestly don’t ca

Bag to Carry

If you have issues with the spine you definitely don't want a single strap/sling type shoulder bag. You might look at getting a good lumbar* pack, Mountainsmith, or if that's too much $$$ to spend grab yourself and Osprey Daylite Plus I have spoken A lumbar is a fanny pack on steroids.

Best backpack for daily use and travel ?

Osprey Daylite Plus. Great great feature set for the price, weight, size. Tons of color ways to choose from. I have carried mine all over the last 8 years+ and it essentially still looks new.

Looking for an everything-pack

If 20L would be enough - Osprey Daylite Plus does all that in 1/2 your budget.

Will this bag get rejected for personal item?

It is very hit or miss. Every crew is different. Generally I don't think the extra space is worth my peace of mind at the gate when there's so many better alternatives. Since you got as a gift, maybe just under pack it the first time you use it so it'll definitely fit the sizer. Then you can use bes

12-18L Suggestions

Osprey Daylite (13L) and Daylite plus (20L) would handle the requirements, but not the nice to haves. They are very comfortable and light weight packs. Also great price point. Very underrated.

Alternatives to Fjallraven Skule 20?

Osprey Daylite Plus is super versatile. Might not fit the styling of the Fjallraven packs. But it's light and has decent pocketing. It it not expensive either.

Must have for beginners

The non-negotiables for him I’d say are : solid pair of waterproof hiking boots (break them in before the trip!) merino wool socks (don’t even think about cotton) and a reliable rain shell Everything else, like his mid-layers or t-shirts, can be basic gym clothes he already owns as long as they aren

Bang for my Buck Hiking Backpack

I think for shorter day hikes under six hours, you honestly shouldn’t feel pressured to get a technical rig. Most of the specialized suspension features in high-end packs don’t even start working until you’re carrying over 15 lbs too, any backpack you have for now will do But if you want to make an

Bag Finder Megathread - 30 March 2026

Looking for a 25-28L bag with double straps and deep waterbottle pockets I have the timbuk2 prospect which is 22L and it like exactly fits everything I need, and I’ve sewn on a second strap for biking and onewheeling without it sawing everywhere when it’s full, but I have to pack it super meticulous
