I wish I had taken a comprehensive approach to buying gear instead of just buying one item at a time. Before buying even one gear item, I should have set my total budget and maximum total weight. I have been using an Osprey Atmos 65 but it weighs nearly 5 lb. I just bought another Osprey, a 58 L one, that is their effort toward being much lighter. I think it weighs around 2-2.5 lb. It seems to have decent waist belt and shoulder strap padding even though it's in the 2 lb range at that size.

I actually just ditched my ATMOS AG 65L and am waiting on a custom ULA Circuit SV. It's only about 2 lbs vs the whopping 5lbs for the Osprey and seems to be a good compromise of UL and comfort. I got mine in 2023 and I came from a 2092g Osprey Atmos AG 65! What an insane difference.
