Even OM System, who only makes micro 4/3, seems to focus on high-end stuff these days: OM-3 (great camera, but big and pricey), OM-1 II, 150-400mm f/4.5, 50-200mm f/2.8. Meanwhile, their compact cameras and lenses get "warmed up" without much change. The small f/1.8 primes become weather sealed (no

Hey! I have experience using ALL the sensor sizes, and in the end, I chose M43 and OM SYSTEM specifically. It's just SO much fun, and the image quality is outstanding. There is truth in comparisons to full frame, but they go both ways. M43 has a lot of benefits in comparison as well. For instance, y

I truly hope—pray, even—that OM System’s next release won’t just be another rehash like the OM-1 Mark II. That camera, while fine on paper, was essentially a software update sold at full price, and it left many of us deeply disillusioned. I’m starting to lose hope in the brand. I’ve been using the E

I had just placed my preorder yesterday for the new sand beige version, I think it looks great. I’m actually coming over from the Fujifilm system and the X-S10. I’ve been eyeing OM system for a while now, super intrigued by its compact form factor, IPX rated weather sealing, and computational featur

Hi OP, welcome to GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome/Sickness) and Analysis Paralysis :) If you want to take photos of mostly static people, I would recommend Fuji X-E5. I find it has more pleasing skin tones than OM. Fuji also has shallower DOF (Depth of Field) due to larger sensor so that there will b

Yeah I can see why it seems like we’ve had 3 cameras that are the same that have slowly chipped away at what was needed. I don’t think that’s especially fair when looking at the E-M5.3 and the OM-5. They are based on two different “1 series” cameras, E-M1.2 and E-M1.3. The major missteps were: The E

Why are you even posting in the m4/3 sub? You seem to despise the system and come here to piss all over it. I've noticed that your posts are frequently downvoted. I have everything from the Pen F and OM-3 to Fuji APS-C to the a7cr and Canon R5ii. I use them all and appreciate what each can do. There

Kind of a strange comparison to me to be honest.... The Fui system you're proposing, is about 1.6kg and pushing $3000, with 3 lenses it offers a broader range of FOV's. The OM System system you're proposing, is about 1.1kg, and ~$2300, with only 2 lenses, it is more limited in FOV options. (I'm goin

With the OM-3 you gain: Better autofocus algorithms. Better PDAF coverage on the sensor (100% vs I think 70%). Better build quality. Better video quality (but still not on par with Sony/Lumix). Color dial (I don’t use the JPEGs that often but use the jpeg preview as it will at least give me the ball

OM-5 II is a good choice. Pair it up with an OM System 17mm f/1.8 MK II and you have a very compact system that can handle deployment abuse. Big zooms or even larger primes will just get in the way. I've been all over CENTCOM with an older version of that setup (EM-5 II). If you leave the lens hood
