Which m4/3 to start with?

$1000 isn't a lot but you could go with an Olympus E-M5 III and a Panasonic 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 which would be cutting it close but cover all your use cases. https://camerasize.com/compact/#835.931,ha,t you'd eventually want to get primes for low light scenarios as well.

I think I bought the wrong camera

Get the 40-150 2.8 Pro and you'll be set. I use an EM5 iii for sports and it's a great setup for the sports-dad hobbyist. If I had some extra money I'd upgrade to an OM-1 for a better focus hit-rate, but I've already decided that I'll never have the budget to spend what's necessary to get the 80-300

4/3 to micro 4/3 adapters?

For more static subjects it's great. For birds on flight and airplanes - it's hit and miss. The E-M5 MkIII didn't show noticeable difference between this combo and the Panasonic 100-300II. On the OM-1 there was a noticeable improvement with the 50-200SWD + EC-14 focusing consistency. However, the OM

Convince me to keep my GM1

Well, AFAIK they have a decent resale value so if you're not using it you might as well move on from it. There's two main reasons I fell in love with the smallest M4/3 body options and why I still have two of them tho (GM1 & GX850 but I prefer the latter): A) they're good bodies to take to concerts

Should I buy Fujifilm XT30 or Olympus EM5iii?

I have both an OM-5 and a Fuji X-T5, so not the exactly the cameras that you have in mind but I can tell you what my thoughts are. The IBIS of the OM-5 is really great and should be about the same as the EM5iii one. It opens some nice creative possibilities like handheld long exposures, which I real

Should I buy Fujifilm XT30 or Olympus EM5iii?

I really love my em5iii. I shoot almost exclusively using straight out of camera jpegs, and I've been quite happy. Most of my photography is adventure based (ski touring and motorcycling and other outdoor sports) and I've been very happy with it. We also use it for kid activity photos and are very h

Best micro 4/3 camera body?

Everything I've read about Fuji says that their AF/CAF is quite some ways behind OM and Panasonic, which is a shame b/c even the latest m43 cameras seem to just meet the minimum standards of today. Just how annoying this is IRL, I can't say b/c I haven't had the chance to really wring out a Fuji APS

DSLR Scan with m43 OM-1 and High-Res-Shot

I scan with m43 (currently with an em5.iii, but have used other bodies). Any of the OM macro lenses work well for scanning, even the cheap 30mm. As the m43 sensor is smaller than the negatives you're scanning you don't need 1:1 so your macro lens won't be at the extreme end of its capabilities. I on

Have an OMD EM5.3 - upgrade the body or lenses for better images?

Honestly, the image quality between the EM5 iii and the OM-1 i/ii is negligible. For the newer sensor, the noise pattern is more even when heavily lifting shadow details, that's basically it. You'll definitely see an image quality improvement by, say, swapping out your 40-150 for the 40-150 f/4 pro

Lumix GX9 vs Fujifilm X-E4

X-E4 is not that cheap and the AF would frustrating for young active runnig kids. If you want to stick with M43, get at least the OM-5 or E-M5 III or E-M1 II/III. Also, get something with 4K video. Another option is Sony APS-C - at least the A6400. Lots of portable lens option. If you dont mind spen
