It's M43 Monday! Ask Us Anything about Micro Four-Thirds Photography - all questions welcome!

OM-5 Mark III E-M5 III? --- OM5 III does not exist... yet... ------------------ 12-32's can be found on ebay and places like mpb for like $100-150. I would avoid the "EZ" lens, it's prone to break (internal ribbon cable problems). I like the 14-42 II R personally.

OM Outlet Pricing

I find the 5 series bodies to be too small to comfortably use with any zoom larger than the 12-100 and even that lens is way off balance when on my OM-5. Olympus made a hand grip for the E-M1 Mk III (fits the OM-5 Mk I) for just that reason, but then you are pretty close in size to the OM-1. Further

OM-5 II review by Micro Four Nerds

I don’t see why you’d buy this new OM-5ii when you can buy a used EM5iii for around $700. I got lucky and was able to find a barely used EM5iii and the M.Zuiko 12-40 f/2.8 two weeks ago for $959 at my local camera shop...

PetaPixel and Emily from Micro Four Nerds on how to save Micro Four Thirds - the manufacturers only make large premium cameras and are afraid to make a small one that isn't plastic and chintzy

What's interesting to me is that the OG e-m5 at launch brought brand new things to the line up. Brand new 16mp sensor, new 5-axis IBIS system, new processor, faster bursts. The e-m1 actually came a bit after the e-m5, but they were not afraid to bring brand new capabilities to the smaller body. Even

Is there anyone who has used both Sony and Olympus cameras?

I moved from an em5 iii with the 12-40 f2.8 pro to an a6700. In terms of size, if you put the sigma 18-50 f2.8 on the Sony, you're probably winning in terms of size but have a slightly narrower zoom range (13.5 - 37.5 cf 12-40 M43 equivalent, so more noticeable at the wide end). For heavier lenses t

OM Systems welcomes new Chinese M43 brand: Songdian

Ok, then let's say OM System is relying on the after-market for some accessories. :-) In my opinion, the cost to develop, build, and warehouse low volume accessories could easily exceed any retail profit. Yes, Olympus had a hand grip for the E-M5 Mk III (and OM-5 Mk I) but how many have you seen peo

OM-5 II review by Micro Four Nerds

I've seen his "review" of that and the OM-3 -- absolutely take everything he says with the consideration that there is marketing-level of bias towards the cameras. The OM-3 review was almost a carbon copy of Johnny Ive showing off his latest Apple design, if you recall those videos. Again, calling m

lol don't know what you mean by "allowing" third parties. I don't think you need permission to make an accessory that is not brand-approved or endorsed. All of the third party grips for these models are "dumb", they don't integrate with the camera electronically. If you don't make your own accessori

Should I change to Oly 100-400 with 1.4 teleconverter?

Unfortunately, I can only see one of the pictures. Reddit seems to have some problems. But the E-M5 III isn't really the best wildlife or bird photography camera. Also, the Panaleica does have Power O.I.S., but you won't get Dual-IS if you mix brands. That's especially unfortunate when using anythin

Are there issues with using Lumix lenses with Olympus or vice versa?

There’s tons of claims of weather sealing not working. I would think this is true, because lumix lenses are not rated for ingress protection. I have used combinations of both in the rain, and the cameras still work, but I would ideally not expose cameras to water. If I have to, I prefer if it is an
