This is true, espe.cially with keyboards that support QMK/VIA for the most part. Hilariously, though, NuPhy's keyboards with NuPhyIO seem to have no persistent memory, so when the battery dies, they forget macros and stuff. It happened to me with my Kick75, and there are a handful of reports of it h

I bought an Air75 v2 and then a Kick75, Nuphy IO version. Admittedly I regretted because I realized that tweaking the QMK firmware is an additional value of a mechanic keyboard. At least NuPhy is working to keep their source repository up-to-date, and the community interest is adequate.

I'd recommend you buy the VIA version. Mainly because it's not only VIA - that specific Kick75 version supports QMK (and by extension VIA) which allows you to use open-source firmware. That has its upsides since NuPhy is infamous for their lackluster firmware implementation - both for QMK/VIA and Nu

TLDR: If you are willing to trade out the Bluetooth in order to get your keymaps to work properly, build and install the firmware from source using make, following their GitHub's instructions. Only some models and only ANSI. --- Hey, all After almost a year of struggling with this issue on my Air75

If you have qmk/via version then check this https://www.reddit.com/r/NuPhy/comments/1lbxn7n/kick75_firmware_fork_with_updated_qmk_1300/ Didn't know that nuphy hasn't released updates for the qmk verison, absolutely unacceptable. If you nuphyio version then it is easy, go into nuphy.io and update

They've done other weird stuff before as well. With the Kick75, they launched a QMK version and a NuPhyIO version, but the QMK version was like $10 or $20 more expensive. They said it was because of the cost of implementing QMK hardware, but I'm still sceptical.

Absolutely mostly low-end stuff, and seemingly stuff that doesn't really meet the minimum standard for QMK support. IIRC, the NuPhy Kick75 QMK works perfectly fine battery-less, but the NuPhyIO version doesn't. In an absolutely hilarious move, the QMK version doesn't let you remap the knob (WTF??),

Last time I disassembled my Kick75 and unplugged the battery, it reset to factory defaults. There are people in this sub who have asked NuPhy about it, and this is the expected behaviour. The keyboard has no persistent memory, apparently, so you can't run it battery-less if you have any custom key m
