My school bought a bunch of Switches to use as a "reward" activity for middle school kids. What could this look like, and how best to manage?

My first purchase would be screen protection for all consoles, but especially for the Lites. A regular switch can still display to the TV with a cracked screen, but a Lite is toast since it can't connect to anything else. I'd also consider a controller budget.. Stock joycons are notorious for issues

For the first time, there isn't any upcoming first-party Switch 1 content

Suggestions like “sell a dockless version, sell a joycon-less version” etc all fail to acknowledge that a large reason why these accessories are so expensive when bought separately is because Nintendo needed SOMETHING to take a hit in order to keep the Switch 2’s price low, not because it’s actually

Nintendo says it has no legal duty to pass its U.S. tariff refunds on to consumers

No, we know the price increases from, and I quote Nintendo from their press release "market conditions". And let's look at the price increases announced in August 2025 Nintendo Switch: $339.99 (up from $299.99) 13.3% Nintendo Switch OLED: $399.99 (up from $349.99) 14.2% Nintendo Switch Lite: $229.99

A Comparison of Prices Across All Major Gaming Consoles.

The problem for the Switch 2 for me isn’t the price of the console, it’s how it is monetized. They are charging $99 for another pair of joy con which are likely to drift in a couple of years. They charge $90 for a pro controller. They charge to use a built in game chat feature (only took them 20 yea

Thank you Nintendo! You deserve it all. 🥰

If you’re that desperate to save $5 or $10 on a Joy Con 2 pair or Pro Controller 2, you might as well just wait for a good sale. It was basically just these, and the OLED Switch console, that went up in price because of tariffs. https://www.nintendo.com/us/whatsnew/nintendo-maintains-nintendo-switch

Is there a Nintendo equivalent of Concord?

Nah it's essentially a developmental tool they released for 30 bucks. I would suspect the majority of dev time and resources into it were useful for the joycon 2 and this was just a slightly polished version of some dev tool they had for testing the joy cons new features. To be a Concord you need to

Valve warns that the ongoing shortage of computer memory is getting worse

It'll cost me $89 to replace the Joy cons on my switch one. I will never under any circumstances buy anything Nintendo again.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (04/28/2026)

So commonly, this is due to the controller failing to charge from the system. Eventually it just runs out of charge and dies. Hence, no longer working. Bad news, if you can't confirm that the fault was the joycon alone, then a replacement might face the same fate. If the system rail has broken. Then

The tariffs are gone, but the prices stayed. We just paid more?!

Switch 2 was $450 and Nintendo was paying $45 extra, at a minimum, per system in tariffs. They literally raised the price of accessories by 10% after they were already paying the tariffs for months. so anybody who paid an extra $10 for a pair of joy cons paid for the tariffs but switch 2 buyers did

Every time, Nintendo

New Joycons are the worst design ever made by Nintendo : useless "mouse" feature can drift like the notorious previous NS1 Joy-Cons too thin to hold in the hand without causing pain after a few minutes 80€ for this shit I am waiting for better non official joycons like i did for my Switch1. In the m
