FX5?
Based on SAR article that came out today, it looks like it will be the FX5. It will be a mini Venice with the menu outlay of the Venice and it will be very similar to the Canon C50 body. Could see it being priced accordingly or, they could significantly drop the price of the FX3A and put the price f

Do we do IPhone Rigs on this sub?
I’ve done some research and the gap is closing until you can spend 2k on something solid used or even a Nikon ZR. If you already get the newest iPhone or the year before and pay monthly for it, not a terrible thought process. This person probably spent $500 bucks tops, for something to hold up to an

Nikon's new ZR is $500 cheaper than the Z6iii
It’s a video camera. Sony was basically alone with the FX series and Nikon and Canon juste released their own. The ZR doesn’t have strong features for photography (might explain the price compared to a Z6), but I’m mostly surprised because it’s a lot cheaper than the FX3.

ZR sounds no brainer but…
All of these are valid concerns and ones I agree with, but Nikon specifically released this camera at $2200 to start to take this corner of the market, so you’re just not going to get everything right off the bat. This is an absurd price point for a camera of this quality, so compromises will inevit

Z5II or Z6III
Agree with u/RudeWolf. Of the two, the Z6iii wins hands down. Also, if you just want video, perhaps consider the Zr. It is not my thing, but for a video centric Nikon in a reasonable price range you may want to have a look.

Nikon ZR vs Sony FX3 vs Canon C50
Nikon ZR is the only one of these within your listed budget. Kinda answers the question right there.

Kind of a rant on Nikon ZR
nah, im on the Nikon ZR side they made a value based camera and considering it has Red 6K pumping out 1TB of data and the form factor is not a photo camera, they have every right to call it cine return it, let nikon get more marketshare and you can come back and check out the higher end $3K version

With the ZR’s massive Red Raw files, what cards are you going to be using?
I plan on having 1 or 2 2TB Angelbird cards. And the rest, I plan on doing one of those DIY nvme cards, initially on a trial basis. And will take it from there if everything works well. For long term storage, use Red CineXPro to convert the R3D NE files into much smaller 4:2:2 10-bit files. That's t

How it feels watching the used market for cinema cameras right now
Lots of reasons. Start with: High-end cinema cameras are primarily for high-end cinema, viewed on a large high resolution screen from 1-2x screen width. And more precisely, for high-end cinema where you are shooting an actual practical scene, and not shooting a single subject to be composited onto a

Canon R6 V or Nikon ZR
If you are a student, B&h sells the Nikon zr at 1900 with an educational discount. At that price it is insane value.
