How does Nikon ZR work in the real world?
There's a lot of gimmicky marketing out there; and there are a lot of misconceptions from people who don't know any better and who also don't bother to put in effort to actually learn before they assume there is magic inside the camera. And the word "format" can mean so many different things. In rea

Is Z50ii a decent camera in 2026? Or should I get something better?
Comments on your wide range of topics here: ZR: Great for video. It's still photos shooting has big compromises: No viewfinder. No grip. Control placements are more designed for video, and less for instant control operation by feel while shooting. ZR: It's various raw formats create gigantic video f

Convince me to buy a BMPCC or a different camera
Blackmagic 6K FF, 6K Pro pros: Better color science, BRAW. 6k pro has built in ND's. 6K FF has beta AF. Blackmagic cons: battery life, heavier, no autofocus (6k pro), low light. Sony FX3 Pros: lightweight, battery life, autofocus, low light king. Sony FX3 Cons: No in-body RAW, color science. Nikon Z

Kind of a rant on Nikon ZR
I think you're just wishing it was a different camera. The FX3 doesn't have SDI at an even higher price point. Nor does any other Nikon camera. The target market does not need an SDI on this camera. GenLock is unnecessary unless you are in a stadium broadcast situation - get a different camera. Use

Canon R6 V or Nikon ZR
As I’m sure you’re well aware from your own research, there is no wrong choice here. I know that doesn’t exactly help your analysis paralysis, but in regard to solo filmmaking both the R6V and the ZR are fantastic - there is no “better tool” between the two. If you’re asking me, the value propositio

Meditations on the Nikon ZR (from a trip to Japan)
I like the video! I agree with your overall take. Even with its limited dynamic range, I think the ZR has the best image in this kind of form factor — better than the FX3, all of the Lumix cameras, the C50. And I love the body design and screen. That said, the camera is really hard to use right now

It finally happened: RedxNikon
For the price, the features you get are absolutely insane. “Back in the day” (2015) I spent close to $30K on a RED Epic Dragon that pretty much has the same frame rates and main resolution combinations this tiny little camera now offers for less than 1/10 the price (if we look at things as body only

I feel like Nikon zr is the most overhyped camera of last year
This is wrong and misinformed. Correlation is not causation, and there isn't some grand conspiracy. The ZR uses the highly efficient intoPix TicoRaw, like every other Expeed 7 Nikon camera. This is built into the processor hardware that Nikon uses that Reds do not use. Nikon did not change the proce

Kind of a rant on Nikon ZR
What official source says no ssd over USB c because of a hardware limitation? So far all Nikon reps have said it might be coming via a future firmware update. I also have yet to see any flickering shadows from the ZR. Not sure how people are experiencing this other than possibly not getting exposure

Is the Nikon ZR a good first full-frame camera?
Ummmm, expand on what you want to do, where are you coming from and where do you want to go? Video? Stills? Both? But how much both? 70%+ video first they maybe. It’s a lot of video and a little stills. The files are quite large compared to other options. I’d say this is a great “first B-Cam (or C-C
