Upgrade?

I would never swap a Pyxis 6K for a Nikon ZR. That form factor and those files sizes are just a no go apart from using it as a B Cam. The file sizes truly are gigantic and atm no way to select a higher compression. I moved from a Pyxis 6K to a Red Komodo X. Main reason for me was the global shutter,

What card do you use?

I’m curious why Nikon puts two different type of card slots on their bodies (with some exceptions). First, it's the other way around: different slots are the exception. Nikon has made 15 matched slot cameras, and 12 with different slots. It just so happens that they've done it a lot more lately than

Upgrade?

I haven't worked with both, but I have extensive experience with the 6K. If I was ever looking to buy another camera, there are only three questions: what form factor do I want, does it have more dynamic range, and how well does it cut with Black Magic colour. The only reason I'd buy a camera with s

What gear should I pick to document a trip of a lifetime?

I'd pick something small and lightweight. Next thing would be file size, something on the lightweight side would be my preference. For that reason alone I'd skip the Nikon ZR. Personally I'd take the ZV-E1 but only because I own it 🤷🏽‍♂️ Best of luck!

Nikon Zr objectively a better camera than the Fx5

If the ZR is working great for your needs, then you should continue to shoot with it. The ZR is great in many ways and the image is punching away above it's weight. However, the ZR is not better than the FX5. One could argue it's better value... but outright better? I don't think so. I own the ZR. L

Nikon ZR good for photography?

No EVF, not really designed for hand-holding (barely any grip). It's basically a Z6III with more video codecs and color options, though I think the Red colors will work on stills, not sure. And 32-bit float audio. No dedicated ISO button, a lot less buttons and controls in fact. Doesn't seem like th

Sony FX 5 almost one camera to rule them all?

Thanks for the update. Compressed R3D sounds interesting. Thing is, as I'm traveling and gear has to be compact and light, it feels like choosing the Nikon ZR will force me to also take another camera for stills. That's the bummer here. You also wanna be able to switch on the go between stills and v
