D850 to mirrorless?
Well, I have a couple of D850s still, but I moved to Z9's when they first came out for a few reasons, and it's an absolutely incredible camera. I do a lot of stuff where I really need the speed, and video things where the new features come in handy. And even though most of the current primes were no

New High Resolution Image of The Earth taken by the Artemis II astronauts.
This was likely shot with one of the Nikon Z9s they have onboard. In which case, I'd say this is likely largely unaltered, to the extent possible. EDIT: Someone has provided a link and EXIF data, it was shot with a D5, with both a long exposure and high ISO. It's probably had a fair bit of noise red

Posting this banger. 😳🙂↔️
It’s incredible. I’m unfortunately selling my Nikon 200f2, but with the Z9 in DX, this lens becomes 75-225 f2 (only when I need the reach though.) Focusing is insanely accurate, precise, and sharp. It’s so damn light too.

Would upgrading to a Z8 help me?
The Z8 has subject/eye detect/tracking which makes it light years ahead of the DSLR focus systems. Its stacked sensor means the data stream feeding the focus system never gets interrupted while taking a photo. You can shoot at 20 fps and the focus system never loses sight of the subject like it woul

70-200 for portraits
I am a working professional photographer. I do use lenses such as the 70-200 Z f2.8, for portraits. I have been shooting, professionally for over 45 years and I only use zoom lenses, these days. I personally find that primes don’t work for me. They are just not as flexible as zoom lenses are. The im

Jellyfish (Hornets too) Skywatchers Video II - Stabilized
Exactly. As good as it is, the Nikon P1000/1100 only employs a 1/2.3" (6.17mm x 4.55mm) sensor. Now, imagine the quality possible from a professional, full-frame (36mm x 24mm) sensor on a Nikon Z9 mirrorless or D6 DSLR, which is over thirty times that size. In broad daylight, at base-ISO, there woul

Which Nikon Z body is best for dog photography with strong AF tracking (without going to Z8/Z6III)?
Yes, the D850 is a DSLR and it’s expected to work well, but if you want to buy a Nikon Z and not regret the purchase in the long run, you should go for a model with the EXPEED 7 processor. Cameras with EXPEED 6 work well, but they lack many modes and features. The Z5II uses the same sensor as the Zf

Switching over from Canon, best equivalent setup?
Nikon Z doesn't have a flagship APS-C equivalent to the R7. The most capable APS-C at the moment is the Z50II. That said, the Z5II/Zf are equally as capable on AF and tracking and you can use that for wildlife too (or consider the Z6III for the speed), but you lose pixel density for the reach. There

Great Facebook Find: Z9 in Pristine Condition for $3,500 📷
Optically, the FTZ is just a hollow tube that moves the lens at the correct distance from the sensor that it would be on a Nikon DSLR. If anything, the F lenses should perform better than on the DSLR due to better sensor, in body image stabilization and better AF. The only lenses that are worse on t

G2 lenses coming soon?
I own the 16-30 f2.8. I have yet to notice any softness around the edges, but… I shoot weddings, music and corporate events, and my subject is almost always in the center of the image frame. I use the 16-30, when I am also using the 35-150, because the f2-f2.8 lens, while great, just isn’t wide enou
