What is it with Nikon and Social Media

No one over the age of 16 should be taking social media or 'techtuber' influencers seriously. They're just long form advertisers. Buy whatever suits your needs. I wasn't a fan of Nikon's first gen mirrorless cameras and didn't buy them. But once the Z9/Z8 came out, I was more than happy to switch ov

He's dead, Jim (D500 replacements?).

No Z8 II soon, it will be at least a year after a Z9II, and the only pro Z cameras (settings banks like you're used to) are the Z8 and Z9. The highest-end DX Z body is the Z50II, which is a D5x00 replacement camera and not nearly up to the pro standards. Why not just send it to Nikon and use their f

Is Nikon Z50 II better than Canon R50 bundle for a beginner?

The Nikon, the kit lenses are better and Nikon didn't bring the cripple hammer to the Z50II so it gets the full range of automatic AF capabilities from the Z9. But it's not by a lot (OK, the lens is a lot better, the body less so), they're both very good.

Would upgrading to a Z8 help me?

The Z8 has subject/eye detect/tracking which makes it light years ahead of the DSLR focus systems. Its stacked sensor means the data stream feeding the focus system never gets interrupted while taking a photo. You can shoot at 20 fps and the focus system never loses sight of the subject like it woul

Nikkor DX series lens vs lower quality full frame lens?

if you're using a full frame camera, unless you're using one of the higher resolution bodies (z7, z7ii, z8, z9), then i feel it wouldn't make sense to use the dx lens, mainly cos it turns your camera into a 10-12 MP camera (not that it's unusable, but it's quite the crop). Also, I wouldn't necessari

DSLR or Mirrorless?

I was a very long holdout, switching to mirrorless late because I can't stand low-quality EVFs, or EVFs that cannot show you a live preview of the scene while shooting continuously. When the Z9 came out I made the leap and never looked back. Even after all this time the Z8/Z9 are still the only bodi

Switching over from Canon, best equivalent setup?

Nikon Z doesn't have a flagship APS-C equivalent to the R7. The most capable APS-C at the moment is the Z50II. That said, the Z5II/Zf are equally as capable on AF and tracking and you can use that for wildlife too (or consider the Z6III for the speed), but you lose pixel density for the reach. There

Great Facebook Find: Z9 in Pristine Condition for $3,500 📷

Optically, the FTZ is just a hollow tube that moves the lens at the correct distance from the sensor that it would be on a Nikon DSLR. If anything, the F lenses should perform better than on the DSLR due to better sensor, in body image stabilization and better AF. The only lenses that are worse on t

G2 lenses coming soon?

I own the 16-30 f2.8. I have yet to notice any softness around the edges, but… I shoot weddings, music and corporate events, and my subject is almost always in the center of the image frame. I use the 16-30, when I am also using the 35-150, because the f2-f2.8 lens, while great, just isn’t wide enou

Change from D to Z!

The Z5ii is a good entry point to the Z system. It has the latest processor (Expeed 7) which means it has a robust autofocus system, good video specs etc., and it is relatively budget friendly. A step up in both features and $$$ is the Z6iii. It is also an Expeed 7 body with even more advanced autof
