Shots from my 2025 thruhike
Thanks! I carried a Nikon Z7II with the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens for the Z Mount. Honestly, I think a longer lens (maybe the 24-120 f/4) would have been a lot more versatile on trail, but definitely not as good for astro/nightscapes. If I did it again and could stomach the extra weight, I might do t

Sony to Nikon?
Hey Mate, I've been a NIkon shooter for a long time and currently use a D4; dual D850s, still have a D750 and just bought a Z6iii. Lemme tell you a story about that So I made a massive mistake with a former partner I was working with and moved from Nikon to Sony with dual A&r4s, 8 lenses and a sony

Z7ii or Zf to replace Nikon F6?
If you have already made up your mind to continue with film, I’d have them give me the Z7II. It’s worth more, and when you resell it, the extra money will help you get to the F6 faster. I would like to make a suggestion; why don’t you bang a couple of frames off and give the new camera a chance? You

Second lens after 24-120 f4 S
Don’t worry about ISO. Just make sure sure you use the “Camera matching profiles”, I.e “Camera Standard”. People don’t zoom in to look at photo details, only photographers do. VR is very good on the cameras. Unless your subject is moving, you should be able to offset the f/4 with shutter speed. A li

Is the Z5ii really that good, or is it just all hype?
I bought one a few months ago. Very impressed with it. The low-light capability blows away my D850. I took shots of hummingbirds at 10k-40k ISO and with the denoising in Lightroom, they look like butter-no grain, clean. The AF is much better than the Z7ii I used to have (sold it and bought the D850)

If you would have to bring only one camera and one lens to travel all over the world with you, what would you pick?
Z7II, 24-120mm; just did Spain and Switzerland and never missed my Z9 or any of the lenses. Less is more.

Z7ii vs D750
What do you shoot? My Z7ii was great for landscape and macro photography and other slow or non moving subjects. The AF is not as bad as some people say but it’s clearly behind the current (excellent) models. I sold it and got a Z8 but the Z7ii is under rated in my opinion.

For those with Z bodies, what are underrated lenses in your opinion?
The little 24-50mm Z lens is pretty decent, and I'll use it on my Z7ii when I'm traveling light. My Z7ii is converted to full spectrum also, and the little 24-50mm works better for IR than the 24-70mm S, it doesn't hot-spot as bad.

For plane photography would getting a Nikon Z6 III be better or Nikon Z7 II
1.5x isn't necessarily how it works when comparing sensor sizes if the megapixels are vastly different due to pixel pitches. The z7ii has a pixel pitch of 4.35 um while the z50ii has a pixel pitch of 4.22 um. For reference the z6iii has a pixel pitch of 5.94 um. This translates into a pixel on the z

D750 gone, time for mirrorless?
All my f mount lenses work perfectly fine on a z7ii and ftz adapter. I came from a d750.
