How do you keep Firefox hardened on Linux? (asking as a Chinese user where privacy resources are scarce)

I'll dump everything I do to stay locked down when I need to online and you can decide where to stop. I find some of the stuff people are suggesting here wildly irresponsible for 2025, I seriously doubt a lot of these recommendations because so many are almost a decade out of date. I'd recommend rea

Google Has Chosen a Side in President's Mass Deportation Effort | Google is hosting a CBP app that uses facial recognition to identify immigrants, while removing apps that report the location of ICE officials because Google sees ICE as a vulnerable group.

It's better than nothing for sure, but it's still Google's Chromium on the underside. Firefox + uBlock Origin is all non Google tech as Mullvad's browser is better still.

Age verification law silver lining

Honestly such an own goal, I've gone without a VPN for ever now a Mullvad user on all my devices. Honestly I would have been less upset if it was hosted by UK gov or at a minimum mandated to be a UK company that guarantees our own GDPR

For the people de-Googling themselves over to Proton, are you just jumping from one ecosystem to the next? What happens when Proton becomes Big Tech in Europe? Do you jump ship again to something else?

Personally i've found the VPN to be garbage on Linux, its so undercooked compared to the Windows app and found many connections on VPN block lists on sites. I just stick with Mullvad. That's just my experience though

Can anyone recommend me a browser to stick to?

If you are specific about Firefox on Linux, then Firefox is the best. Most Linux users are keen on security and if thats your case, you may want to try LibreWolf or Mullvad - the only issue is that they arent available on mobile. I used to have Mullvad on Linux and Firefox on other platforms but it

What VPN should I use?

Mullvad, Proton or IVPN IVPN is cheapest of you don't mind being logged into max two devices at a time. Proton has the largest number of servers. The others to consider are Nym (looks good but new, so discounted but also unproven) or Windscribe (absolutely solid if you don't mind them being in Canad

How to use Proton VPN and Tailscale at the same time on Windows?

Might not be the answer you're looking for but you can purchase mullvad vpn through the tailscale admin dashboard which (when proton is not on sale) will be cheaper than proton. thats been working for me and the friends on my tailnet fine

Firefox alternatives

I've been with Mullvad for years for their VPN, wouldn't use any other VPN at this point. I do use FF as my main browser but have Mullvad Browser as well with no complaints. OP didn't say which distro Linux using but I use Ubuntu, browser also available on Fedora. You can't get it for Android though
