Don't hold out any hope for the AR coating, consumer Surfaces have been without any AR coating since at least the surface pro 7 (or even earlier) and microsoft has never bothered with that. Pretty confounding decision considering the surface is meant to inspire other windows pc maker (show them how

It's too late. It's just too late. I was perfectly happy with Windows 10 on my Microsoft Surface Pro 7. And then you stop supporting Windows 10. But I can't put Windows 11 on a perfectly good Microsoft Surface Pro 7. So now, it's running mint Linux. And I'll never go back.

I have been using Surface Pros since about 2013, 3 in all, currently Surface Pro 7 bought in 2020 (still with the first one's Type Cover going strong). I use it for everything, email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, developer stuff, mySQL and SQLite databases/analytics (plus a SQL Server database in the pa

I appreciate you telling your story. I'm strongly leaning toward going down the Framework path later this year as a part of a switch from Windows 10 to Ubuntu. My only reservation so far has been the lack of a Microsoft Surface docking module for the Frameworks. Without that, my conversion cost is g

I am thinking: SSD issue replace it and retest -> Microsoft Surface Pro 4 SSD Drive Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide firmware update issue, or motherboard issue - find some cheap parts on ebay? - 40$ https://www.ebay.com/itm/298043314940 But you have to decide is spending money worth it to fix it?

Launching the Surface Pro X alongside the aging Surface Pro 7 was such a bonehead move, especially since the Pro 8 copied the sleek design of the X and still had an Intel chip. Of course, this commentary is less relevant today with better ARM support on Windows, but still, it doesn't feel like Micro

Thanks for the update. I'm currently using a Surface Pro 7+ from 2021 with an 11tj gen i7. For having a full PC and desktop OS, that can become a tablet for gigging duties, there is literally nothing that can beat it. I'm starting to consider when it will need replacement. Not because it will stop b

ngl windows 11 is frustrating with all the ads and forced features. i downgraded my surface pro 7+ to windows 10 last year. the key is using microsoft's own recovery image from their website - search 'surface recovery image' and enter your serial. itll give you a win10 image with all drivers baked i

Could run Reaper on a touch screen laptop and not have to worry about 2nd screens. A reconditioned Microsoft Surface Pro 7+\8 2022 or later costs less than a new iPad, will give a i7 16 GB Ram and 512 GB SSD, a real OS with full desktop power and full make range of plugins. It has detachable keyboar
