It's definitely pricey. When I bought my Surface Laptop 5, I actually went with the 16GB/512GB version to cut cost - then I upgraded the SSD to 1TB myself. It turned out perfect. I bought the Kioxia SSD per Microsoft's 1TB spec and it saved me $450. I have to decide if I want to want to do something

Specifically for the tangent I mentioned "Copilot features (which now probably Microsoft regrets specifying 16GB as the minimum)" they surely find 16GB now too high, as they've been pushing now for what, the third "year of Copilot+ PC upgrade" only to have in the works a Surface that isn't Copilot+

Next-gen 13.8 and 15-inch Surface Laptops should be rebranded as Surface Laptop Pro.
