It's the mascara itself. Waterproof formulas will smudge less. Avoid putting any on the underneath lashes. Maybelline Sky High and Falsies waterproof work for me

I personally like the Maybelline Falsies mascara as well. It's the only one I find that doesn't clump up or smudge all up under my eyes! I also like the clump crusher bc it separates the lashes so well. I always get compliments when wearing either.

I personally like Maybelline mascara and I have a hard time with finding mascara that I like. I really like the falsies and falsies flared as well as the clump crusher.....the latter does a really great job of separating the lashes as opposed to sticking them together. Try layering two mascaras. First coat with regular. Second coat with waterproof. I kept my coats pretty light but will sometimes do a third coat of regular. My face wash works for removing it with a little focused attention but it slides right off with micellar water. I also feel like my lashes don’
