Thanks for relaying these details. It's super annoying how a much older generation webcam (C615) doesn't suffer this issue, but I guess not enough people use facetime/whatsapp on a Mac with external speakers to sufficiently motivate either Apple, Logitech or Meta to address this issue.

Bought 3 different webcams in 2 years, finally found one that doesn't die after 6 months
I’m not who you were asking but also have never had a webcam fail. I’m still using the Logitech C615 I bought in 2014.

Camera for core one
My go to for inside enclosures has been the Logitech C615 and while I don't have my Core One yet, I have seen models for the C615 in the Core One on Printables. They're not horribly expensive and just plain reliable. Most of the esp ones crap out once the chamber starts heating up so they're really
