Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been

I have two WoA laptops - SP11 (X1P) and Lenovo T14s (X1E). I also have a Ryzen 7 T14s from work. The difference could not be more night and day. I hate to do anything on my AMD work laptop, it is so frustrating - bleeding battery when it's supposed to be in sleep, constant fan noise even while doing

Dell precision 5550

I second the ThinkPad P1. You would want the P1 instead of an X1 extreme. The P1 is a true workstation system with professional grade nvidia graphics that have ISV certifications for the apps you'll be using for your engineering stuff. Not saying Lenovo is perfect but they do tend to fail less than

MacBook of the Linux World

I have a ThinkPad X1 Extreme from 2019 with an OLED screen, and I think the burn-in fear is a bit overstated. Mine does have some faint burn-in from a game I'd often have on for hours at a time, but even on a 6+ year old screen it's not that noticeable (pretty much only on a bright white background)

New Laptop Suggestions for heavy SPSS and MPlus use

I have been using a LENOVO ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 for five years and been very satisfied with it. It came with 64gb of RAM, which is way more than I need, although I did run something that used all of it once or twice. The best add-on for me was an external monitor so I have two screens.

Recommendations for laptops? (Psychology)

Regardless of the brand, aim for these minimums: Processor: Intel Core i7/i9 (13th Gen or newer) or AMD Ryzen 7/9 (7000 series or newer). RAM: 32GB DDR5 minimum, but 64GB DDR5 would be ideal if the budget allows, especially for Mplus and large SPSS runs. Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 or RTX 4060

Returning my X1 Extreme Gen 4 - Here's why

Hello - I have been running a similar spec X1E (i711800H, RTX 3060, 16GB RAM) that I purchased in 2021, primarily on power desktop style for business use and some travel here and there. I can confirm the build quality is good. I had 1 screen replacement within the first year due to what I understand

Framework 13 Feedback

You are having almost exactly the same experience as me, only I was coming from a frustrated Linux experience on a ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen3, which was supposed to be the best Linux experience (Or I used to think that...) Oh boy was I wrong... I cannot be happier with this laptop... I am using Kubunt

Thinkpad P1 gen 7. Impressions.

I am pretty new to this computer. My previous computer (ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3) also had an OLED and I never had a problem with the OLED. I am a doctoral student, so I spend lots of time looking at text; if it was blurry, I would notice. The screen on this new one is better. They put a slight mat

Unless a big company takes over like what google did with android, linux will never be a proper windows replacement

I mean to a certain extent it is really a skill issue. The whole thing is made by volunteers and there are sharp edges expected. I have been using Linux for over 20 years and I still have to Google how to troubleshoot certain things. On bog standard hardware (i.e. Thinkpads) with mainstream distros

I replaced the FHD display in my X1 Extreme 2nd Gen to a 144hz panel

Interesting that the X1E2's are that much cheaper. On the used marked here, the X1E2 is typically listed around $600. I got mine very cheap, I bought two of them for $315 from the same seller, one was "broken" but the repair was free as it turned out the touchpad PCB had some debris on one of the co
