I've said this a few times already, but it's such a tragedy that the T420/T430 were the only high-end ThinkPads of those generations to not be configurable with a decent display from the factory. The X220/X230 as you can see here, could be configured with a 1366x768 IPS display. The T420/T430 got ei

I can speak to the battery. I've had good luck on aliexpress with a 9 cell for my T430 (fits T420 also). When brand new I got 2.5 hours with medium use and just over 3 hours with light use. Not sure you can view the US link so I'll just paste in the exact description and the seller name and you can

I've had great luck with the 9-cell I got not too long ago from aliexpress. It charges even with the battery whitelist intact which was what I needed. Using a quad CPU I get about 2.5 hours with medium use, just over 3 hours with light use. I'll include the link but it's a US link so not sure you'll

Well, I have a T14 Gen 3 AMD which has been serviced so much, every component except the screen has been swapped out by a Lenovo technician. It still does strange knocking noises when in sleep mode. So yeah, nothing remotely similar happened to my two older thinkpads (X1 Extreme Gen 2 and W530).

if its free , use it. W530 would be a fun machine . I have 2 of the w520's and one is used daily for reddit and media consumption. The nvidia quadro card (if yours has it) is a pain to get straighten out , but have had luck with Manjaro and currently run MX Linux on it. I would also say while using

sorry for the late answer. No, it hasn't been solved yet unfortunately :( The funny thing is that this basically only occurs on my 7th gen and 8th gen laptops (using the original m.2 form factor with the genuine ax210 cards). However, i also run derivatives of this card on a number of mpcie laptops

Who complies anything anymore? When I started using Linux back in the very early days, yes, you often had to build stuff. But unless you're using something like Arch or some little-used app someone hosted on github, you rarely, if ever need to download tarballs of code and run MAKE scripts anymore.

I have a 2012-vintage Lenovo W530. I boosted the RAM to 16 GB, but I was able to run various versions of Linux with 8 GB. I believe the last thing I installed on it was Kubuntu, and it ran very well. I still have it here somewhere, I just need to repurpose for something. I currently use a 2015 MacBo
