Scored an X220 with a factory IPS screen!
I've said this a few times already, but it's such a tragedy that the T420/T430 were the only high-end ThinkPads of those generations to not be configurable with a decent display from the factory. The X220/X230 as you can see here, could be configured with a 1366x768 IPS display. The T420/T430 got ei

Using a W530
if its free , use it. W530 would be a fun machine . I have 2 of the w520's and one is used daily for reddit and media consumption. The nvidia quadro card (if yours has it) is a pain to get straighten out , but have had luck with Manjaro and currently run MX Linux on it. I would also say while using

Why do yall like thinkpad laptops
because a thinkpad is built like a tank -- it can withstand anything and everything that you throw at it. I have a W530 that I bought during the Black Friday sale of 2012 and it still runs Windows 10 like a brand new machine with all keys and touch pad functioning as it arrived on 2012. The only thi

Why do we only have 14-inch laptops with the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395?
Because most consumers are fashion slaves and companies have to cater to the lowest common denominator of the market. People will scream for tiny thin devices with worse battery life, less screen real estate, and touch screens where you have to move your entire arm instead of moving a single finger

New Framework 13
Thanks, I'll have to look into the 258v again that I was considering as an alternative to my current laptop. Would be interesting to try a 16-in version of a Dell laptop to see if it could keep up with the m1 Max for battery life and such... I would be happy if it even just got half, since most of t

Can we just talk about what a masterclass in laptop design this is?
The W530 is a step above the W54x series chassis in durability - my 541 beats your usual consumer grade laptop in many ways, but durability wise, as a LONGTIME (since 97) ThinkPad owner, it's the flimsiest chassis i've met aside from the x100e that i briefly owned.

W510 or W520: which is more reasonable addition to the collection?
Because: I already have T430 in my daily rotation and several more modern laptops. I want something with that "old style" keyboard and classic ThinkPad aesthetics. there is no W530 in my area listed in good condition and reasonable price (<300 eur).

What's in your top 10 wish list?
Class defining new features: -2.5mm of key travel on a high end keyboard. Update the bezel if you need a little bit of extra thickness to fit it. -Desktop Nvidia 5090 docking ability with Oculink. -Massive sheet battery for 24 hours of battery life like the W530 ThinkPad used to get. These features
