i summon all the mighty T480 programmers

Depends on your needs. I'd go for the one with the bigger battery and upgrade the SSD by myself. If you want to do AI stuff on the ThinkPad itself: don't. Just offload that to your desktop. Just SSH into it. For frontend development you don't need much. You need VScode, a browser and some CLI tools

Need help choosing a ThinkPad (after a really bad Legion experience)

If this is your first ThinkPad, go newer. The T480 is great for tinkering, but the T14 Gen 2 is the better daily driver for most people, faster RAM too. What you do gain is a massive generational leap in performance over any 8-10th gen Intel chip and you’ll feel it in every single task. Just open so

Why are Lenovo ThinkPads so highly praised?

There was a really good post about this a couple weeks ago, that I fully recommend, I agree with every single word of it and my only single criticism is that the author didn't take a chance to add that what is true of ThinkPads is also true of every other corporate-aimed type of ocmputer. The Myth o

Please recommend a Budget Laptop

Ask someone from abroad for a used ThinkPad T480. Used ones are very affordable, typically around £160 in the UK. Upgradeable SSD and Ram.

Just join the club with a T480s

Welcome to the cult , the T480s is a sweet laptop , something different that the T480 that everybody else gets. I was able to drop a 32gb sodimm in mine , so getting more ram should be physically easy , just stupid pricing right now. Enjoy your ThinkPad!!

MacBook or lenovo??

If you're on a tight budget, I'd go with a ThinkPad - spare parts can be found easily and are cheap. I would try to pick non-S model (T480) 8th gen Intel - it can have bridge battery and is a sturdy beater laptop that should still perform decently for basic tasks and has official Win 11 support.

Laptop for roblox

At less than $300 you’d be buying e-waste. Anything that price brand new is e-waste from the factory. It’ll likely not be very usable for anything more demanding than word documents or watching videos. Look on eBay for a Thinkpad T480. I purchased a T480 with an i5 8250U, 16gb ram, and a 512gb SSD f

Got sent the wrong ThinkPad

Define "customisable" You dont get the big battery that allows for crazy battery life but with a somewhat fresh internal battery you can squeeze 6-9h depending on your config. It also loads much faster than the T480 You do only get 1 Ram slot but Imo thats still fine considering even in the worst ca

Lenovo Detachable

I personally hate touchscreens, and laptops that need a stand on the back to hold it up, can't really adjust the angle, and it falls over too easy. Touch is great tbh, but I definitely agree with the stand thing. > Also since you're forced to fit the CPU and everything into the screen, there's a gua
