ThinkPads are generally considered to be goated in regards to Linux support. Mint should be perfectly fine because it's based on Ubuntu, and Canonical works with Lenovo to validate hardware compatibility. Don't know about specifically P50/P53, but they're usually good.

I’d avoid a gaming laptop if you don’t do much gaming TBH. A Dell Precision or Lenovo P Series will be much better for civil engineering and still be able to game a bit. I do know what I said as I never lied. I have bought a Lenovo Thinkpad P53 with these specs: i7-9850H CPU Quadro T1000 GPU (horrible but better than nothing) 32GBs of RAM 512GB M.2 NVMe If you dont understand what GBP and Thinkpad P53 is, just search it up online mate.

I bought the Lenovo ThinkPad P53 in this constallation --> i7-9850H 32GB 512GB SSD NVIDIA RTX3000. Strong points are: The Notebook is powerful and durable. I can have multiple programms open without problems and the baby of a friend at some point walked on top of the Notebook (it was closed) and not
