End of an era: Why the construction of the Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 is so significant
i daily drive a P16s Gen 4 (80+ GB of ram) and it’s an amazing machine. i have M4 Macbook pros too….and gaming rigs with GPUs, and even x8 Nvidia H100 servers … and lemme tell you. the Lenovo thinkpad P series are solid as a work and engineering machine and i want more of them. they are great

How bad is the laptop supply chain?
Our company ordered multiple pallets of Thinkpads when the OpenAI memory news came out. Personally, I bought a P16s for myself from Lenovo because I think the prices will stay high for at least two years and probably longer.

Laptop recommendations for estimators
Lenovo Thinkpad, if you have the budget, go p16 Gen 3 - it's a chunker but it has a dedicated graphics card, full size keyboard, upgradeable ram, dual SSD bays For a little less the p16S gen 4 is also great, similar uogradeability but a little more mobile Built like tanks

"Downgraded" from a Gen 4 to Gen 2 P14s, shocked at how much better Gen 2 is!
It’s a bit interesting to me how Lenovo seems to have backtracked on limiting repairability. My AMD P16s gen 4 has a replaceable keyboard and socketed RAM. Annoyingly, it has that stupid whitelist on the second NVMe

Why isn't there much love for the Thinkpad T16? Too big?
I used to swear by larger laptops until I sized way down from a W540 to an X13 Gen 3. I don't miss the number pad, certainly not more than I enjoy my laptop weighing barely over 2 pounds. And, crucially, the functionality between Lenovo's 12/13" and 14-16" laptops is largely the same, with the excep

AMD CPUs, Nvidia GPUs, LPCAMM2: Redesigned Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 with AMD Ryzen 9 HX 400 announced
P16s this time also replaces the P16v it seems, which is why Lenovo opted for a unified design for AMD and Intel. P14s is a different story. It seems Lenovo still wants to use the T series design for the AMD variant to cut down on cost.

Suche nach passendem Notebook
Eine gute Liste, Lenovo auch bei mir #1. Vermutlich kann der OP aber auch ein paar Gramm sparen und sich den (leichteren) ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 ansehen

Help me decide (prices in AUD) P1 vs MBP - workstation to replace my desktop
While not "bad", the base display on the P1 is adequate but otherwise nothing outstanding. The 4k IPS or tandem OLED (which has its own issues, but is overall nice) would bring some parity, but the MBP display is the better one as configured Yeah that's a $500 add on option! 😣 I don't mind the exist

P14s Gen 6 AMD features up to 12-core CPU. Decent screen options, RAM and keyboard remain easily replaceable.

Anyone else having a surprisingly smooth experience with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS on newer hardware?
I run it on a Lenovo P16s Gen 4 and it's been great. I certainly don't think it's surprising though.
