Laptop recommendations for estimators
Lenovo Thinkpad, if you have the budget, go p16 Gen 3 - it's a chunker but it has a dedicated graphics card, full size keyboard, upgradeable ram, dual SSD bays For a little less the p16S gen 4 is also great, similar uogradeability but a little more mobile Built like tanks

"Downgraded" from a Gen 4 to Gen 2 P14s, shocked at how much better Gen 2 is!
It’s a bit interesting to me how Lenovo seems to have backtracked on limiting repairability. My AMD P16s gen 4 has a replaceable keyboard and socketed RAM. Annoyingly, it has that stupid whitelist on the second NVMe

Help me decide (prices in AUD) P1 vs MBP - workstation to replace my desktop
While not "bad", the base display on the P1 is adequate but otherwise nothing outstanding. The 4k IPS or tandem OLED (which has its own issues, but is overall nice) would bring some parity, but the MBP display is the better one as configured Yeah that's a $500 add on option! 😣 I don't mind the exist

P14s Gen 6 AMD features up to 12-core CPU. Decent screen options, RAM and keyboard remain easily replaceable.

T14 vs Legion (or other Lenovo suggestions)
Based on the pricing, I'm guessing you're in Canada? The Lenovo Perkopolis portal (https://www.lenovo.com/ca/vipmembers/perkopolisgold/en/pc/ with password PerksGoldCA26!) currently has a great deal on the ThinkPad P14s and P16s and they're very customizable, starting at roughly $1200. Play around w

Laptop for lawyer
The ideapad and inspiron are consumer grade systems and should not be considered. The E series is a budget grade business (E for economy), while not a bad system, there are better built systems, so if you're getting this one for a great price, go for it, but I would see what it would take to step in

Is editing videos too difficult without a P-series workstation?
To answer your larger question, no you don't need a P series to edit videos. If it's just 1080p then most modern machines will do it just fine. As long as you don't have the efficiency oriented chips (from either Intel or AMD), with modern iGPUs being powerful enough you don't even actually need a d

Help me choose between ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 vs P16s Gen 4
I would suggest to wait for November discounts and take p16s with OLED display for your budget, it could be Intel gen3/4, or AMD gen 4. Or even watch for lenovo outlet deals if available in your country. Don't see any sense to take Gen 2. There where deals for AMD gen 4 for 1360$ with good config, s

RAM -- Soldered or Replacable? AI, too...
The P series is highly variable; the P14s/P16s is basically just a T14/T16, with a bigger processor option - a couple of generations back this was the T4xxp and later there was a T14p although I'm not sure it was sold in the US. Virutally all of the options are the same, and yes, it's clearly the sa
