I need help choosing my first Thinkpad for 2026

P.S. I am tech savvy, really like to tinker around with upgrades and what not, that’s why I’m pondering on the 14s since it has limited upgradability. Despite that, you do get a taller 16:10 display, decently robust chassis (lower half is all magnesium, instead of PPS/CFK), the most powerful iGPU he

ThinkPad recommendation for work (open to refurbished, ~$1000 budget)

Since this is for work and budget is pretty large, I would get something that is upgradable and fixable for long term longevity. So, I would get something recently genned L14 AMD or T14 AMD if you want 14 inch. If you need the extra keys, then T15 AMD or L15 AMD. So, gen 6 AMD fits your budget range

looking for new thinkpad

If you want to have some GPU power for casual gaming and otherwise use it as everyday laptop - at your budget check newer AMD-powered E- or L- series T-series will in most cases be above budget. or a generation or two older. Anything with a 7th gen Ryzen.... You can go brand new here for your budget

L14 g3 or T14 g2

For € 450, neither. I'd look for a 16GB or 32GB X13 G2 AMD, Ryzen 5 or 7, ideally with the larger 54.7Wh battery (41Wh was an option). It's a T14s G2 in a smaller chassis, and a decent 16:10 color accurate 13.3" display. Very good battery life, compact, strong build. More durable and easier to carry

T480 or L14 AMD?

L14 G1 is newer (L14 2020, T480 2018), with a more capable chipset, stronger graphics inc light gaming, good connectivity. Dual RAM slots, and plug in Wi-Fi card, as T480. € 200 is a reasonable price, providing good condition, at least 8GB RAM fitted, complete with PSU, W11 licence, and has a 250 ni

Best laptops for Linux besides thinkpads

Maybe this is obvious, but did you consider getting a notebook from secondhand? I cannot stress enough that the Lenovo L14 AMD (even the Gen1) are great notebooks. You can also swap the display quite easily, so getting one with a broken screen sometimes can be the absolute steal (i bought one with a

Any Problems with Linux on Ryzen 7 5825U?

I'm not sure about what's "out of the box ready" with modern ThinkPads. I don't buy brand new, I always wait a few years until they fall into my price range ;) You could always look on Lenovo's website and see which models they offer Linux with. I can't imagine you'll go far wrong with the L14 AMD m

Posting again please suggest thinkpad or thinkbook

First, buy a model with a good display, avoid those with low color coverage. Second (in my experience) avoid Intel processors because they heat up a lot, which has a negative impact on the battery and its life. Third, check if the model allows for RAM expansion or network card replacement. Fourth, c
