ThinkPad better than Latitude or EliteBook?
Linux compatibility? Equal on all 3 generally. Hinges that break less? Equal on all 3. Easier to service? Lenovo wins this. Easy to find HMM for almost every business model, while HP and Dell has them, much harder to find. Lighter weight? Thinner? Depends on the exact models you're comparing. X1C vs

I need help choosing my first Thinkpad for 2026
P.S. I am tech savvy, really like to tinker around with upgrades and what not, that’s why I’m pondering on the 14s since it has limited upgradability. Despite that, you do get a taller 16:10 display, decently robust chassis (lower half is all magnesium, instead of PPS/CFK), the most powerful iGPU he

Laptop for Computer Science
Grab a Lenovo with an i7 11th gen or higher with 16gb DDR4 ram and 1tb M.2 Storage. Models like the L14 are great and upgrading is easy. Or you can look into a the X1 Carbon Series. Amazing lightweight but powerful machines. (Only issue you can only upgrade it’s M.2 on most models)

is this a good idea ?
This system, ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 (Intel), is a fine computer. It's relatively new, I see few of these on the used market in the US so far. 16gb of ram and 256gb of SSD are fine starting places and they're also modular/replaceable on this model. The price seems basically fair.

Looking for the perfect ThinkPad
Almost all modern ThinkPads are fairly thin and light these days, especially if your own laptop is over about 10 years old, but knowing what you have now and what your one game is and what kind of size you're interested in would be useful. Generally speaking most people recommend T series, the 14-in

Looking for laptop recommendations! I like Thinkpads, new to compsci
If you're open to refurbished machines and are looking for what looks like fairly normal usage, maybe consider something like the Dell Latitude 5440? It's a 14-inch mainstream business laptop from 2023 with Intel 13th gen. You can get them on US eBay for $250-350 or so. They have 2x SODIMM slots, WL

need laptop for everyday tasks, NO SOLDERING
US? Dell Latitude 5440 (TBH 5450 would probably still fit in your budget) - sodimm sockets, full m.2 slot for wifi, m.2 slot for wlan, $250 for a 5440 with 16gb/256gb on US eBay, which is a couple generations newer than what you'll typically get in a ThinkPad. https://www.ebay.com/itm/366289482877 a

Need a new laptop for university: L14 G4 vs T14s Gen 2
T14s all-metal build, thin and light, fixed DDR4x-4266 16GB RAM, single NVMe drive, decent Intel chipset, but outmatched by equivalent AMD. 2 years older than L14 G4. L14, plastic/metal build, DDR4-3200 RAM will upgrade to 64GB, more powerful AMD chipset, stronger graphics than Intel 11th Gen, suppo

L14 AMD (Ryzen 5 4650U) vs T14 Intel (i7, 32GB RAM) for Linux dev?
Even with RAM and storage, $510 is expensive for a T14 G1, both T14, and L14 G1 are 6 years old. If the T14 still appealed, I'd want to know the age and health of the 1TB NVMe, as it could also be 6 years old, and heavily worn. Avoid if either has a 1366x768 TN display. I'd favor spending less on an

Is the Thinkpad L14 gen 4(ryzen 3 pro 7330u) good?
Excellent price. Faster and more powerful than any T480 set up, and you retain modular dual RAM slots, and a replaceable WiFi card. If 8GB RAM is installed, adding an 8GB, or better, 16GB DDR4-3200 stick is a worthwhile upgrade, especially with Windows 11. Hopefully it's fitted with at least a 250 n
