Why is my ram half gone?
it is super easy to give a try. boot from the USB and play around with it without installing. I have settled on Fedora Linux, Ubuntu was also good. most of the time you won't even need a terminal to have everything setup and running. for Nvidia drivers will need to run some terminal commands though

Laptop recommendation
I am using lenovo slim 5 , no issues related to software or battery , but if you are planning to buy lenovo you have to be careful with hinges , as there is issue of hinge in lenovo laptops , i repaired my laptop hinge 2 times in 4 year, else performance wise no issues.

What linux distro do yall use?
My man! I love my Legion Slim 5, everything I could want in a gaming laptop, well built, great performance, nice keyboard and that Lenovo linux campatibility.

Why I still recommend Linux Mint (even as a CachyOS/Fedora user)
My only real issue is the damn audio crackling that seems to have dozens of solutions! I have a Lenovo Legion Slim 5. The install and first night was just amazingly smooth and fun!
