I had the same problem after changing my charger. In my case, the laptop wouldn't charge with either the new charger or the original one. The solution was to open the laptop and disconnect the battery for a few hours. My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 3 (AMD).

for college you want something light, good battery, and reliable. at that budget id look at the lenovo thinkpad e14 or the macbook air m3. thinkpad if you want windows and a keyboard you can type on all day, macbook air if you want something that lasts 15+ hours on battery and just works. either one
