What happened to 3-way non-tower speakers with large woofers?
Yea basically. Klipsch still makes the Heresy as well if you want horn loaded tweeter and mid (it even got an update with a new larger ported cabinet recently). If you want a vintage style speaker like this, you'll have to go with one of the brands that still makes them, and it'll usually come with

Purpose of expensive bluetooth speakers?
As others have said, it is about features you want more than sound quality. Since I have had, or heard, some that you mention let's compare them in basic terms: Klipsch three plus - In one box. Easy to sit on a shelf or kitchen counter. Will have more bass than something like the Kef LSX Lt Marshall
