Honest coffee guides: grind charts for hand grinders

First off, my tool is an offshoot of the excellent desktop app by coffee genius Jonathan Gagné: https://coffeeadastra.com/2019/04/07/an-app-to-measure-your-coffee-grind-size-distribution-2/ Mine is web-based and will be open source, just like the original. The use case is exactly this one, understan

Baratza Encore ESP Pro: My experience

I’m torn on this one tbh. I like the espresso and pour over that I get out of the ESP Pro. Switching back and forth is very easy and repeatable with the digital setting display. That said, I just added a hand grinder (Kinu M47 Classic with pour over burrs) specifically for pour over and the results

Is the ZP6 that different and worth if I already have other grinders?

As a Kinu M47 Classic (MP & PoB) user I can attest your impressions. M47 (especially with MP): less enhancement of acidity, rather medium mouth feel.Imho ZP6 is overhyped on Reddit (I see a truckload of down votes coming in). It's just affordable for the vast majority of people... And these people m

How does the 1zpresso sound against my circumstances? ⬇️

Because the price:quality ratio is much better on a hand grinder because you arent paying for expensive custom electronics and motors, it allows for the money to be spent on more important things like burr and build quality. I hand grind my espresso (and sometimes pour over if i can be bothered swit

How many grinders do you have?

Two. I have a Baratza ESP Pro also. It does a good job for espresso and I’ve definitely made some delicious pour over cups with it. I eventually switched to a hand grinder (Kinu M47 Classic) for a variety of reasons, including taste profile. I like the result more, but it’s definitely not night and

What two grinders would you get? One for espresso and one for pour over. [budget $1-1.5k total]

FWIW, I opted for a dedicated hand grinder for pour over (Kinu M47 Classic). I wouldn’t consider hand grinding for espresso, but the results have been great and the workflow is nice (and quiet!) in the morning.

Adding pourover to espresso setup

Same. The idea of hand grinding for espresso isn’t appealing to me, and I didn’t really notice a difference in quality so I let my electric grinder handle that. Happy I switched to my hand grinder (Kinu M47 Classic) for pour over though. Definitely an improvement in flavor and consistency. I can onl

Ceado E37SD

Thank you for the honest reply. I've only really used my kinu m47 classic manual grinder and I finally have been achieving god-like shots using medium roast beans. Thick, chocolate, some flavor separation, dense, long mouth feel, etc. I've tried a niche zero and it tastes less dense, a lot more blen

My lil pour over setup/intro

How is the zp6 treating you? I have heard a lot of praise for this grinder especially for light roasts and how good it is for flavor clarity. I personally use Kinu M47 Classic with the pourover burr. So far so good. But taste separations is still something that i seek.
