Manual Burr Grinder [$130]
Had a Chestnut C3 Esp it was decent and definitely grinds for espresso, but most would suggest a Kingrinder K6 grinder probably, just make sure you really want to grind manually as it's a pain in the ass especially lighter roasted stuff, it's definitely a workout!

Baratza encore ESP vs kingrinder k6?[$200]
Kingrinder k6 is a capable grinder. If you grind for a couple of drinks its ok. Its quickly becomes tedious if you make 5 drinks daily. You can quite easily electrify it though, using an electric screwdriver.

update: i listened to you guys and i am so happy i did!
i had a kingrinder k6! i normally make flat whites, i make 4 cups a day (2 for myself and 2 for my partner) so it’s made a massive difference to my workflow. if i only had one cup, maybe i’d have stuck with k6. the hand grinding made me not excited to make coffee cos it was getting tiring doing that

[$500] ELI5 how do I get a good quality espresso without dropping $1200?

I’m not a weak gal, but this requires more effort than I’m willing to give when I’m not caffeinated. Your wife also might not appreciate it. It’s very awkward to handle i

Gifted an incredible machine but can’t afford a top tier grinder to match…what’s good enough? [$250]
I got a Kingrinder K6 and I'm kinda unhappy about the dosing ritual but that would equally apply to a single dose electric. The cranking itself is fine, it's not like I make 5 coffees in a row or anything. Now if one IS making several coffees routinely I can see the problem.
