Wish I had tried this sooner
I wish they made kindle paperwhite with a left or right side holder like the oasis. The bottom only hold makes it sometimes hard to read my kindle on my side while in bed.

Decision fatigue
That assymetrical form factor is much more comfortable to use in the larger sizes. You have far more ways to grip it, and you don't have to scrunch up your fingers and get cramps to use it. The 6" is light enough it's not a problem. If you read infrequently or in shorter reading sessions, it's not a

Amazon is killing off perfectly functioning Kindles for no reason other than being old
I'm glad you don't have issues with it, mine refuses to read them at all or makes the text very small in the center of the screen, no matter what I choose in settings. Not sure what model it is because I received it as a gift, I think it's called oasis? I might be wrong. I haven't jailbroken it yet

Need recommendations for an e-reader
Unfortunately Amazon already phased out Kindle Oasis line with 10th gen is the last your best bet is a used Kobo Libra 2 (Libra Colour is there too, but colour) or had to sacrifice the button with Paperwhite 5/6. Or sacrifice battery life with Boox Go 7

Ask Me Anything About My E-Ink Tablet Collection
I've not looked at the latest generation of Kindles (I think they discontinued the Oasis). But out of the previous generation I preferred the Paperwhite (original, not SE). Although I do love clicky pageturn buttons, I found the oasis to be too slippy to hold comfortably because of the smooth metal

Whats the last story that kept you up waaaaay past your bedtime
Yes 100%. I started with a kindle, but if I had to do it over again, I'd get a Kobo. (Unless if you read a bunch of indie/trad pub novels, then get a kindle). Use Kobo with Calibre (software) to organize your books. I use a tagging system to identify tropes, ships, and whether they are in my TBR or

What book made you finally buy an e-reader?
i just thought the e-ink technology was super interesting and i got a second-hand Kindle 2 in 2009. i eventually decided i prefer physical books whenever possible and now the Kindle Oasis 3 is used only for out-of-print, free and hard to find texts.

Would you buy Kindle Oasis (10th gen) in 2026?
I have a jailbroken Kindle Oasis 2 and while calibre WiFi transfer works like a charm and reading on it is fun... it has two major flaws. My battery measures around 90% of its claimed capacity so it should be still fine. But it sucks. Even without using the light a lot and with WiFi off. It feels li

First ereader advice!
They will all let you load PDF files but you should know that PDF is about the absolute worst file format for eInk devices, especially ones with smaller screen - zooming and panning is torturous (slow, jumpy, laggy) on older, smaller eInk screens so unless your eyesight is good enough to read the fu

Best e-reader with buttons?
I'm curious what you ended up doing for an ereader in the end? I'm the same age as you and I've been using my old Kindle keyboard since 2010! I love the buttons so much I just can't get used to a touchscreen. I've already replaced the battery once and it's draining quickly again so I'm trying to loo
