Kobo vs Kindle
I’m a pretty dedicated Kobo owner but it’s largely personal preference. The Paperwhite is a really good device and Amazon’s ecosystem is very easy to use. There’s a reason that Amazon is basically the default ereader for a lot of people. I switched to Kobo for two reasons. First, the form factor of

Am I missing anything about the Kindle devices?
Lots of reasons, really. Some people are simply tired of Amazon’s near-monopoly (they’ve worked hard to ensure many people don’t even realise other ereaders exist that aren’t Kindles), or they don’t like Amazon as a company. Some people have genuine issues with Send to Kindle - if you want/need to r

Just got my first Kobo - kind of regretting it after years with Kindle
I switched from Kindle Oasis to Kobo Libra Colour and will try to answer some of your questions. You can change the screen zones from the settings, I can't remember what the default was but I have the whole middle part for the menus not just the bottom of the screen, and you can drag from the top to

What’s your favorite e-Reader and why?
Kobo Libra Colour. The built in Overdrive and Google Drive are handy. The UI is awesome. The ergonomics are much better than my Kindles. I’ve mostly stopped using Kindles now ( I’ve had them all including 1st gen and Oasis)

How long does it take you to read a book?
I read a kindle book every day, sometimes two if they are in the 350 page size. I’m 71 this week and retired, I read 4-6 hrs per day and my entire life since grade school I have always read at least an hr per day. Since retiring in 2016 I have read over 3000 kindle books. I love my Oasis!

Amazon ends support for pre-2013 devices
English isn’t my native language either and your post looked fine to me! I agree though - for people who had or could only afford an older Kindle (20% off isn’t necessarily generous for people in countries where a Kindle costs a lot of money compared to their income, and in some countries it’s impos

Unpopular Opinion about Switching from Kindle to Kobo

What is so bad about Boox ereaders?
I just got a Boox (Go 7) and I'm loving it. I still have my Kindle Oasis and plan to keep it until it breaks, but I love the freedom of not being strapped to Amazon with the Boox. Much easier to sideload books, I can still read my Kindle books, and I can read comics on Firefox, or comic apps. That s

Bigme B7 Color - Excellent way to cut down social media use and spend your free time
Ohhh this looks nice. I have the same goals as you and recently got a Boox Palma. I really like it and it has def got me off my phone more, but it’s not as pleasant to read on as my old Kindle Oasis. But Oasis has the Amazon lock-in, and also is still microUSB charging. I was thinking of selling bot

which e reader should I get (kobo/kindle) or should I even get one at all?
Regarding book selection / availability - you can just browse the respective store websites, maybe browse by favourite genres or search for authors you know - see if they have them. Amazon’s larger selection is largely due to their business model where they demand exclusivity from self-published (“i
