Recent new drm on kindles
I mean, a couple people posted a few days ago having this issue. I know at least one of them I suggested creating a log and posting to the nodrm github. And I know that on the github, at least 2 separate posts had the same problem with 5.16.2.1.1 and the nodrm mod was able to reproduce the same prob

Amazon is shooting it's self in the foot.
Ditched Amazon years ago because 1. What you're speaking on. 2. Hardware team just gave up after the Oasis 7" and have spent the past decade putting out nonsense with zero vision other than marketing while Boox, Kobo, Pocketbook keep iterating form and size and bezel considerations and 3. Other comp

Wish I had tried this sooner
I wish they made kindle paperwhite with a left or right side holder like the oasis. The bottom only hold makes it sometimes hard to read my kindle on my side while in bed.

Is there a reason outside of being Amazon that Kindles are disliked in this sub (US specific)?
I’ve had three Kindles over the years and the Oasis that I got in 2017 is still my primary device, so I’m certainly not anti-Kindle. Would I get another one though once my Oasis dies? Nope. Reasons are many - not a fan of Amazon’s practices; my Oasis has excellent hardware but I don’t like the book

The Boox Palma 2 is incredibly fragile and should be avoided
On the other hand I’ve cracked the screens of two Kindles (regular and Oasis) and my Boox 2 remains unscathed 🤷🏻♀️ sometimes I think it’s just the luck of the draw.

Decision fatigue
That assymetrical form factor is much more comfortable to use in the larger sizes. You have far more ways to grip it, and you don't have to scrunch up your fingers and get cramps to use it. The 6" is light enough it's not a problem. If you read infrequently or in shorter reading sessions, it's not a

Making the switch from Kobo 💔
I have a Kindle Oasis I've had as my only ereader for maybe seven years (I've had others). Built like a brick squat house but without a cover it's really hard to hold on to (unbalanced, metal back is awkward, cold and slippery), and with a cover it's weirdly heavy. Also, Amazon. Whatever you think,

Kindle Oasis: to rebuy or not to rebuy?
All other Oasis out there will have the same battery issue. I traded mine in roughly 2 years ago because the battery was kaput. If you want the form factor you're going to have to look to other manufacturers like Kobo or Boox. Boox is nice since it's Android based you can run the Kindle app on it an

Need recommendations for an e-reader
Unfortunately Amazon already phased out Kindle Oasis line with 10th gen is the last your best bet is a used Kobo Libra 2 (Libra Colour is there too, but colour) or had to sacrifice the button with Paperwhite 5/6. Or sacrifice battery life with Boox Go 7

Would you buy Kindle Oasis (10th gen) in 2026?
Oasis 3 is several years newer and depending on how it’s been used, should last better (not as well as any other Kindle to be honest, as I think the Oasis line had the worst battery life out of all Kindles even as new; the “six weeks” isn’t saying a lot as it depends on whether you use it half an ho
