I don't believe it's quite so black and white as some suggest. At the lower end of the market, powered speakers are unbeatable in terms of price vs performance. You just can't buy a good stereo amp and a pair of passive speakers new for $150 that's really going to challenge a pair of Edifier R1280T

KEFs website R3 meta: FREQUENCY RESPONSE (±3dB) 58Hz - 28kHz. Ls50 wireless ii: Frequency Response (±3dB) Measured at 85dB/1m 45 Hz – 28 kHz. Like I said over 10hz lower.
