Are Kef speakers all that good? {LS60}
These aren't conventional speakers that you wire up to a receiver. They are for a different use case. Part of their expense is justified because these are more than just passive speakers. They include multiple hundreds of watts of amplification, and support a variety of sources and wireless streamin

Upgrading Advice Needed. Kef R3 Meta vs LS50WII vs LS60
I have R7Metas on Hypex Nilai 500 monoblocks and it's an amazing pairing, so I can absolutely vouch for the R3M on the Nilai stereo version. I also trust that KEF builds adequate power into anything that's self-amplified like the LS60 etc. That being said, I think adding a sub to your existing setup

Thoughts on LS60 vs R11?
I've owned the LS60s for the past ~8 months and highly recommend them. The LS60s can go lower (31hz at +-3db), while the R11 can get to 46hz. Means realistically you can use the LS60 without subs, while with the R11s you'll want to add a sub. The 8 force cancelling woofers on the LS60s are no joke!

Passive alternative for LSXII LT?
It doesn't "defeat the purpose" of the speaker IMO. KEF's wifi connectivity and streaming capabilities suck. That's unfortunate. But IMO, that's not the reason to buy the LSX, LS50W, or LS60. The real benefit of these speakers is that they are fully active speakers. That's not the same thing as a po

KEF LS60 First thoughts
Really depends on what you want / what you already have. I tried out the LS60 / LS50 Wireless and then the LS50 Meta. If I didn't already have everything (amp, pre, receiver, etc) I would have absolutely gone with the KEF active speakers. Out of all of them, I really love the LS50 Meta (and the R3 M

I heard (almost) every KEF Meta speaker, here are my 8 key findings, longer version
I share the concern about the longevity of the electronics in KEF's active speakers. I would like to eventually see them release successors to the LS60 and LS50W what implements a cardioid bass array. That would genuinely provide an experience that a passive speaker + subwoofer cannot recreate.

LS50 Meta or Wireless II
For a give cabinet and drivers the active speakers give a greater range, more bass and lower cost than the passive version. LS50 Meta with an amp that is in total double the cost of the Kef LS50 II wireless is claimed to be better. Kef themselves claim that they could not make a passive version of t

Are Kef speakers all that good? {LS60}
In that case I’d examine the LS50 as a starting point for passive KEFs, and you can compare those to other passive speakers. I think KEF gets a bit of unwarranted hate just because they’re popular, but they’re also popular for a reason. The KEF LS50 is very well reviewed in general. That doesn’t mea

My Current Setup (KEF LSX II LT + Kube 10) — Debating LS50 Wireless II vs Staying Put and Saving for LS60
The LS60 have gotten some great reviews by some. However, they are $6k new, and probably around $3k used. They are a great all in one simple solution that many are after. However, some may not want to be stuck in an active system and choose to go with separates. In the used market I've seen things l
