I don’t think support got it quite right, My guess based on what I can gleam off Github development and some things the team said is, they focused on auditing DNS in large part because of PortMaster. Seems like IVPN miscalculated the availability of current Android framework to expand on Custom DNS,

Missing Portmaster Notifier?

Yea, this has been suggested a few times already, see here or here. Unfortunately development seems to have slowed down a lot since Safing has been acquired by IVPN. Just look at the contribution cut after April 2025 on GitHub, 3 devs from Safing down to 1 dev from IVPN.
