Seems like IVPN miscalculated the availability of current Android framework to expand on Custom DNS,

Missing Portmaster Notifier?
Yea, this has been suggested a few times already, see here or here. Unfortunately development seems to have slowed down a lot since Safing has been acquired by IVPN. Just look at the contribution cut after April 2025 on GitHub, 3 devs from Safing down to 1 dev from IVPN.
