Same issue here. My 705 combo will not cross any carpeted area if it’s in mop only mode. It only appears to use the mop cover and traverse carpet when in Vacuum & Mop mode. I’ve seen a few other threads with the same issue so perhaps it’s something iRobot could fix with a software update!

It should not mop carpeted surface or rugs regardless of what the job's map tells you. The map may look like it is doing mopping and vacuuming, but it really just shows where the Roomba cleaned during a Vac and Mop or Vac then Mop job. How does it compare? Surprisingly, I had & returned the iRobot 705 Max Combo and now seeing how fast the X90 cleans the mop compared to how Roomba did….. & its app made me want to rip out my hair waiting ages for the mop to finish washing… without giving me a choice to skip it…. And still be dirty…
