First VPN Seized: 'No-Log' Service Revealed as Law Enforcement Trap for Cybercriminals

In this specific case, it's not just a matter of logs: Europol infiltrated the service and gained direct access to the user database. The point isn't that they were "secretly recording," but that the infrastructure was operationally compromised. Skepticism about no-log VPNs in general has real basis

Your VPN Kill Switch Won't Always Stop All Leaks - Data Gathered Objectively Testing 20+ VPNs

We actually ended up following this guide to configure firewall rules for IPVanish on Linux (one of the leakiest VPNs we tested), retested it, and it no longer leaked. That said, we had trouble getting custom firewall rules to work on Windows. What OS are you using?

Best VPN According to Actual Users?

Read this article theres an agreement called five eyes, nine eyes and now fourteen eyes. Basically countries have an agreement to spy and share user data with each other. You want a VPN that doesn't operate in one of those countries or truly has no logs. Reading that article Private Internet Access

'Our users deserve better' – PrivadoVPN set to leave Switzerland on privacy grounds. The VPN provider told TechRadar it's in the process of moving its operations to Iceland

Privado is affiliated with Pango, according to pitchbook.com profiles, and Pango is the company who was responsible for all the Hotspot Shield data sharing, traffic redirections and other shady stuff. They apparently also are still running on the old Ziff Davis and IPVanish infrastructure. IPVanish

NordVPN has begun profiling its users!

Mullvad has had a good record thus far. But, so did IPVanish until we learned they were logging in the past. If a capability exists, it can be used. So, you have to trust that they won't ever do that. "Don't trust. Verify." is a core belief of the cypherpunk movement, and to date, only one VPN let's

Using VPN to connect to certain country increases Torrent speed?

Because they are US based, they can be court ordered to collect user data. This has happened to other "no logs" VPNs in the US before, such as IPVanish, Riseup, etc.

Do VPNs really work or is VPN security mostly marketing?

and the logo often comes from a holding company nobody's heard of. Express vpn, IPvanish, strongvpn all owned by the same parent. The brand you're trusting and the company actually handling your data are not always the same thing.

Tor vs ProtonVPN vs Tor + VPN

Well it does matter. The FBI requested information recently from Proton via the Swiss courts regarding a user that used Proton Mail that resided in the United States. Now if the FBI already had everything they needed they wouldn’t have needed Proton’s information to identify who the person was. Coun
