I bought the Razer blackshark V2 X and it sounds very well. The only one thing I don't like is the "closed" structure. I prefer de open one, but the headset is very nice. recently got hyperx cloud stinger on eBay for £10, can say I’m very happy when it comes to gaming. Pretty unbearable otherwise tho. Very comfortable and the mic is superb.

damn that echo issue is super annoying and yeah its probably the splitter causing it. cheap splitters can mess up the ground connection which creates that feedback loop for your budget id go with a dedicated usb headset honestly. the hyperx cloud stinger core or corsair hs35 are solid options around
