That price is mostly inflated by 8TB storage. The only actual AI MAX macbook-laptop Ive found is HP ZBook Ultra G1a 14", 2TB, 128GB, and 14" screen for $4,378.99. Same specs Macbook Pro costs $5099. and you get more than double the bandwith, much better CPU (even M4 max is has 30% better ST) and muc

HP ZBook Ultra G1a 14 would've been a better test Load average: 83.3W Cyberpunk 2077 ultra * 110.9W = 80.7fps Baldur's gate 3: 99.4fps B390 wattage? If pantherlake is designed for battery, is it better if it loses performance?

Who are the 60+ upvotes from? Outside of the Qualcomm machine, every other device you claim is "first party mediated" comes from third-party benchmarks out of PCmag's own benchmark database. Addressing one concern: There is no way a Zen 5-based CPU can score 18.4 in Speedometer 3.1 under normal circ

I just went through setting up a TS5 Plus for a HP ZBook Ultra G1a - the dock had issues out of the box as noted here but your thread was helpful in getting it connected to the system so I could do all the firmware updates (dock & PD) + Ethernet driver install. Even after doing all these updates on

I don't see many comments addressing your AI/LLM interest. For $2000, Apple's hardware will be better than anything you can buy in an x86 laptop for $2000, due to the unified memory. If you have $4200 you can get something like a Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 Review: Blackwell Power in a 4 Pound Workstat

Thank you! I wasn’t considering that platform. HP ZBook Ultra G1a 14" seem to tick my boxes and I can just about afford the lower end configs. I’ll look into that further.

Update: I ended up buying an HP ZBook Ultra G1a, 14" Touch OLED 120Hz, AMD Max Pro 395 16 Core, 64GB RAM, 1TB. HP were running a business promo cashback so I ended up paying just over £1900. I had some issues with it initially, it would crash randomly, mostly while in sleep mode. After fully updatin
