OMEN Transcend 14

The laptop OLED space has seen amazing improvements in the last two years. In 2024-2025, most “normal” laptop OLEDs (the ones used in $1200-1500 laptops, like a 4060 14”) did 600 nits peak and 400 ish nits full screen sustained. Now, in 2026, laptops in that same price range are already 500-550 nits

I have an Omen 14 Transcend laptop (Core Ultra 9 285H, RTX 5070) and noticed the same thing. CPU would go up to 100 degrees and start thermal throttling. Only happened in Hunt, despite having manually adjusted PL1, PL2 and PL4 power limits. Ended up just disabling CPU boost entirely for when I play.

Even then you wouldn't though. AMD says the Max+ 395 can sustain 120W and boost upto 140W. That's not really much less than most 5060s do paired with a Ryzen 7 or Ultra 7. Oh I HATE this so much. My Omen Transcend 14 does this. Eco mode will get you 10 hours on my laptop with the RTX 4060 disabled, but the only things it is useful for are video playback and typing. It feels horrendous to use. Gets ~50 points in CB 2024. Switch it over to Balanced and change nothing. S

Same. The issue gets worse because they also drop the refresh rate to 60Hz. My Omen Transcend 14 actually drops to 48. It’s infuriating. The reviewed battery life for my laptop was 9-10 hours. I get 5-6 with usable performance and 120Hz

Most laptops in general these days are very sharp. My Omen Transcend 14 has one of those ubiquitous 14” 1800p OLEDs. 242 ppi with pretty decent brightness. It’s great (I’d love an M4 Pro but they were too much money for me)

Its a 14 inch laptop. There is only so many places for the heat to go. I had the Omen Transcend 14 before my G14 and it was just as loud and hot when gaming but the performance was worse.

VR and laptop in the same sentence in most cases should be a crime. only if your not deliberate like me, but since i bought mine half a year before getting my quest 3 i made that shit work as PCVR was not worth missing. price point is great for getting ur foot in the door. Thanks. I just got a HP Omen Transcend 14 ($550!), it's a thin model and the tgp maxes out at 50w during Steel Nomad. I think it might be able to boost to 60-65w in-game(Nvidia control panel lists the GPU as 65w), but haven't tested yet. Anyway, I was able to undervolt it to .800@2175, no memory ove
